If the rumor is true that they'll focus on pedals, maybe the Legacy pedal showed them they can succeed in that market. I have zero inside knowledge, but it might been a trial balloon to determine if they should move in that direction or permanently close. It'll be interesting to watch to see if they quietly start cranking out pedals in the future. I think it'd be cool if they did.

Regarding the name - Carvin was my first guitar porn crush. I had my first catalog delivered in 8th grade or so. I have 1 guitar I bought new, and an X212B that's an early 90's fuzzy. I love them both.

The good news for those that want to continue acquiring amps, their stuff historically is cheap aftermarket and will continue to be found used for years, likely still at amazing values.

If anyone is looking for that el34 driven x Amp that's between the original Series iii 6l6gc version of the head, and the later series iv reissue, there's A REALLY well kept one for sale on reverb.

Carvin XV-212 https://reverb.com/item/6813943-carvin-xv-212

Looks like he has a vintage DC with m22's right next to it in one of the shots.

But based on that mint condition, it's probably a great deal.
Carvin Weaponry:

1985 100 Watt X Amp 2 x 12 combo (XV212) upgraded w/ 2 Vintage 30's
...and other gear.

this was hinted at a while back, so no big surprise. Are they still manufacturers or just just sellers of an imported product? We shall see.

I hadn't even thought of that!
But it certainly makes sense. Outsource everything to China and just have a skeleton crew in California taking orders, couple of engineers, and a few folks running the shipping/receiving departments. And accountants. Always gotta have accountants. 8)
