And I just learned something... I always took for granted that those 225's were 24 fret. (But I would think a 24 fret jazz-ish guitar would nuke the most important qualities of the most important pickup position... that being the bloomy round neck pup clean sound of course. )

But yeah, with the addition of those powerful octave overtones I could see the low end on that pickup taking it off the rails and becoming flabby. I would try picking away from the pickup to avoid it the best I could. My guess is closer to the bridge you pick (without twanging out), likely the better.

I was texting on FB about Lundgren pickups earlier with someone, (actually Mattias Tolkki) and on a break from the board I decided to check out a clip of Johan's P90's...

These sound completely outstanding! They sound like a blend between my Gibson Les Paul Special, and the hotter p90-S on the Hagstrom. These are phenomenally excellent sounding P90'S. Which is a rare thing.. I find P90s are the pickups most often screwed up by third party pup winders... They try to add output to the vintage spec, or they change up the mag type, etc.

Lundgren is such a talented winder. He excels at virtually everything he does. High output 6 bucker, erg hot bucker, PAF straight, bumped PAF, P90s, etc. These have that archetypical 90 sound... So rare. Really well done!! :applause:

Nice work on the P90 install! I wouldn't dream of attempting such a thing. A two P90 22 fret Vanquish guitar would be pretty cool!

Ok, so this happened last night.

Benson Custom P90 went in. I was able to order it done with a white cover with black pole pieces!! So that was nice, right from the get-go. It's supposedly a 7K neck p'up. Hand wound. Alnico5.

video clip with a rough demo in my pijamas. I quickly go through all 3 pickups: bridge(DiMarzio Breed Neck), middle(stock Kiesel Lithium), neck(Benson Custom P90). Focus is on the P90, of course.
