That's too bad. Those look like a lot of fun to me.

AC40 discontinued.

What a sad day.

Players, however, not on the BBS but elsewhere, have cautioned buyers about the impossibility of adjusting intonation on this instrument. Perhaps it could be updated and improved, and sales therefore boosted, rather than tossed into the rubble heap.

To be clear, the CT7 is remaining. It's only the separate model designation of the CT4, with the plain maple top, that is going away, just as they did on the 6-string CT and CS. Although, while that's what Jeff said, the CT4 is already gone from the website, so I'm wondering if that means the "3" variation is going away (no top)?

He did specifically say that the model with the included flamed maple top is staying in the lineup, though.

Eh, he also brought out 7-string versions of the pointies, which he's said multiple times he was a big fan of (and brought back the X220), and the 7-string pointies are going away. It seems that if it don't sell, it's fair game. For the most part, the models that are going away aren't volume sellers anymore. He also said they have actually talked about an SH550-style bass, and said he thought it could be really cool...but it didn't make financial sense to release a model like that unless they thought there was enough of a market to sell 10 a month.

Actually, that comment was from the last live vid and I think it provides a little bit of interesting insight. They don't want to design a new model unless they think they can sell 10 per month. That must also mean that their threshold for existing models is at least the same, or likely even lower than that.

Bolt price going up a "tremendous amount"? Even with an alder body and maple fretboard? Cites has nothing to do with that, and I'm pretty sure that front routed guitars with no huge bevels require significantly less machine time than something such as the Aries.

What this really sounds like is that they don't feel the bolt matches the "look" of the company anymore, being a "working man's" guitar, so they want to raise the price, drive down the sales, and kill it.

As it is, you can make a bolt with a hard case set up like a "typical" strat for $1049. I think shipping is additional? You can get one of F-brands American Pro guitars for $1399 shipped. Bump up that price a bit, and there does the "factory direct discount" that made Carvin/Kiesel such an attractive option for decades.
Guitars: Bolt in Electric Blue, Cobalt 750T
Basses: B4A in classic sunburst , B5 in sunsetburst, XB75 in TPB, PB4 in Blue Burst, LB70F in Pearl blue

And the LB basses, as I have been stating for quite a while now. Love that model. :)

Keep discontinuing models and bring the Cobalts back!

Those were really good quality acoustic guitars. I still have mine and it is really one of the best sounding acoustic guitars for the price.
Carvin guitars: AC375, Cobalt 250, Bolt-T.
Carvin amps: Legacy I w/Mesa 2X12 Rectifier speaker cab, AG100D.
