Crescent vs DC700 vs CT7 Thinn neck ETC QUESTIONS

Postby lateralus819 » Mon Dec 11, 2017 6:05 pm

Looking at specing another Kiesel potentially.

I picked up a CT7 this time last year. Love it.

Looking for something more Ibanez ish in terms of looks. Thinner neck and more shreddy I guess.

I was originally looking at the DC700. I currently have a DC727 too. Want something with square edges.

What is the benefit of the Crescent over the CT? They look similiar?

Thinn neck- Is it noticable? I really like the feel of Kiesel necks but would not mind a thinner option.

Really wanting a flamed KOA build this time. Something a little less flashy than my pink/purple CT7.

Suggestions? Thoughts?

The Crescent has a set-through neck construction, which is supposed to give the slim neck heel of a neck-through, but the tone of a set-neck.

The body is more slim on the Crescent. The CT7, at the edge, is 1.5". The thickness of the Crescent at its thickest, is 1.65". The CT is 2.03" at its thickest, for comparison.

Also, because the Crescent has a larger flatter area, there's room for the Hipshot bridge which isn't possible on the CT, multiscale options, and custom control layouts will be much easier than on the CT, which uses "dished" knob locations.

The Crescent's horn extends to the 12th fret, about 2 frets further than the CT, and should provide better balance.

Thank Spud! Good info. I'm really not even sure I want another carved top. Although the Crescent looks great.

Going with a DC700 gives me more money to play with. Plus I just want a super strat looking guitar.

Really can't make my mind up.

Hmm DC700 in Koa here’s a nice one
Although if you got one without a top wood you could get the deeper arm cut away...

Do we know that's the case on the more-than-6-string models? I know it's confirmed to be the case on the 6, but I couldn't get Jeff to answer that question on the live video: he only confirmed the 6, and didn't answer the rest of the question.

Hmm interesting...yet another Kiesel mystery...I can’t seem to find any obvious evidence either googlin DC700 pics.
That would be a shame if they didn’t offer that on the DC700 it’s kind of a topless perk for the 6

I actually asked him on the last livestream. He said he actually didn't know, and said something along the lines of, "Call my guys...actually...they probably wouldn't know that either..."
