The only thing concerning me right now is how much I've over-eaten. :laughhard:

Hey believe me I have no problem with rosewood as a fingerboard. It's superb especially on the right guitar. I love it (vintage Brazilian) as a major ingredient on that vintage semi hollow that I bought in the fall. Also the vintage HIIN OT. Not to mention the best strat I every played, my old 62 Fender CS. Very smokey round tone wood. Ebony is much snappier, much more pronounced attack. I think it goes great with P90s, long scale, and semi hollows, by adding more definition on the front end.

Have you guys been able to find any catalog descriptions of any of those bolt models w rosewood as the board wood? Maybe the tlb? I didn't check that model.

I remember when Jeff started bringing rosewood in for some of those early Aries, that it was a real anomaly in the history of Carvin- Kiesel. I rarely see rosewood boarded guitars for sale on Verb.. or annual listings in catalogs announcing a model with it standard.

1985 100 Watt X Amp 2 x 12 combo (XV212) upgraded w/ 2 Vintage 30's
...and other gear.

So it seems there are two aspects to modern Carvin fingerboard history. Obviously ebony was and now is the default wood for the vast majority of models, for the longest amount of time. What threw me for a loop, was that the entire time I was seriously considering a Bolt (until 12/2016 with the CITES-driven switch to ebony), the standard wood was Rosewood. This was also the case, at the time, for the bolt plus, the tlb60, bolt on basses, and the kits. So my own frame of reference specifically with the bolt on models, was an across-the-board standard Rosewood fingerboard on all bolt on guitars, basses, kits, and replacement necks.

I couldn't find any scans of the catalog pages from after the museum's updates, but if you look at the in-stock guitars, The general model description on the right is usually just copied pasted from the model's main page at the time.

Here's a TLB60 which included mention of the standard Rosewood fretboard.
https://www.kieselguitars.com/guitars-in-stock/122301
https://www.kieselguitars.com/guitars-in-stock/123238

The same as well for the B40/B50:
https://www.kieselguitars.com/guitars-in-stock/114362

Here's an announcement of the PB basses that mentions the standard woods (the press release seems to omit all mention of standard woods and most other standard spec, instead mentioning the customizability.

The same with the JB basses the following year:

Also, the Vanquish basses:

I received it in early November :TOPIC LINK and it's the culmination of my search for a Fatboy that fits my particular needs. It has three options that make is significantly more comfortable for my smaller hands over the previous ones I owned: thinner neck profile, 12" radius fretboard, medium jumbo EVO frets.

Didn't you buy one of my old Carvins? Your name is certainly familar. :)

Hi, totally missed your new guitar post.
Looks awesome!!
My only used Carvin purchase (eBay) was a H2, not yours I guess?.
We did chat here about neck sizes and hand pain. I'd also had a few pains brought on by either an uncomfortable neck, or bad posture.
The classical position has really helped me.

Trying to figure out how to upload pics without Photobucket.

Dreadful dead Photobucket links everywhere.

There are a number of other hosting sites like imgur, cubeupload, etc.

I've been using Imgur, but also attaching photos directly the post, uploading them here. It does compress the image quality quite a bit, and chokes on large file sizes, though. Attached images also don't get carried over into the next post if they are quoted, while hot-linked (externally-hosted) image do.

There's no perfect solution. Any 3rd party company can pull a Photobucket move, images posted here are also held by Kiesel and can do with them what they wish (if, for example, they ever decided to pull the plug on the uploaded), if someone hosts them on their own site/server, we're all hoping they don't either change their server or something (anyone remember rob_l's amazing collection? No photos exist anymore because he hosted them all on his own website and took them down).

Thanks Spudmonkey. I'll give imgur a try. I still temporarily have my Photobucket subscription active, but have lost trust in them.

I assume you are on mobile. It looks like you were using just the regular share button to get the link, but that is the link to the Imgur page with your image. To get to the direct link to the actual image (with a URL ending in ".jpg" or ".png"), you have to touch and hold your finger on the photo, until the direct link option comes up. Then copy that direct link to clipboard.

You can also try cubeupload.com

Real easy service to use. Upload your pics w their FTP, get share links from them or just right click on your photo while looking on it, select copy image url, then come here, drop it on the page, and then drop the image brackets around it.

Like if you hit reply to this post, you'll see what the little piece of img code should look like:

EDIT: only caveat is your img's must be 5mb or less.

I've had no luck, it seems they've changed things to make it more difficult to get the direct link. Others having the same problem. But thanks anyway.

A real easy way to upload pics if they are on your local computer:
1.Locate the "Attachments" tab at the bottom left of the "Post Reply" window
2. Select the Add File Button that appears
3. Select the file from the File Find Dialog box
4. Select the "Open" Button
5. Done!

I tried, (from ios) but didn't work. Maybe it's the adblock on my phone?

I used to use that too, but you have to be considerate and not use their space for non Carvin-Kiesel stuff, so you'll need an outside service anyhow. Even if just posting a meme or something (let alone gear from elsewhere) you'd wind up needing something else in your tool kit on this forum. I'd get a little irked with it flipping my photos inexplicably sideways, and I couldn't figure out how to right them. It may have been fixed since the switch to the new php, this is going back well over a year.

Glad that worked for you. Cube is pretty easy and straightforward.
