You guys are absolutely right. In my head it was just an alternate spelling of the same thing. Anyways... Yes, top Woods will be an option on this model. Supposedly they're going to be showing some today. Along with the bass version.

Here is one in a new finish called graphite, which I suspect will only be available on Ash and will be $200. That is the case on the blue Zeus build, which he is calling the lightsaber finish on ash.

It also has a bloodwood fretboard.

Bevel fatigue sets in. . . . a condition I didn't know could exist. I'm going to start looking at my beloved 1972 HIIN crooked..
Carvin Weaponry:

1985 100 Watt X Amp 2 x 12 combo (XV212) upgraded w/ 2 Vintage 30's

rlindsey0 wrote:EDIT: And to actually get back on topic, I'm kind of feeling this one. I'm into lower weight and smaller dimensions these days (I often use an HH2 with a Quilter MicroPro). I'm 61, and the Vader has always been too pointy for me; also, because of the horn, it doesn't hang quite where I'd want it to. This Zeus thingie (no, I don't much care for the name either) might work for me.

I like the horn much better than what you usually get on a Tele or the equivalent. There looks like there's enough room for the hand of someone who plays with a classical-like LH position. I dig the bevel too. I find slab bodies uncomfortable and have zero interest in them; tradition be danged.

Great post! Pretty much sums up my initial reaction on all points. The massive bevel is not for everyone, but those who like it like it a lot. I'm very pleased that they are avoiding the tele resemblance as much as possible. What's in a name? A Zeus by any other name would play as sweet(...ly)

That said, I still think it's pretty ugly. It has a "don't look, just play" vibe. Function over form all the way is what I get from this, which is why I think it will do very well for basic builds.

I'd love to see one in Vintage Cream, or maybe Gunmetal Metallic. I think metallic finishes will really show of the contouring well, just as they do on the CT and CS.

Ooh...Candy Red Metallic...

EDIT: I'ma be completely honest. I think this model would look muuuuu-hu-hu-huuch better as a flat slab body. Jettison the bevel fixation on this one, and I think its appeal would increase. A nice resonant flat slab body of ash or alder with no bevel (and deffo no top although it doesn't appear to be coming w one as an option).

I felt the same way.
I asked about a bevel delete option.
Chris Hong said not likely / not at this time.

Tops are definitely an option. It was confirmed.
Just like the scb. Same flavor.
Current Carvins:
2010 Bolt (Candy Red Metallic)
2013 Bolt Plus (Koa)
2016 Black n Blue VSEVEN
2017 TT SCB6

Wish List
Some sort of multiscale 6 HSS with RAD ASH
JB Numbers Guitar (July sale has given me the itch!)

...I kinda like it?

I dunno, I usually think the bevel stuff is just goofy, and I'm not into Teles, but it all just kinda works together here. It's got a kind of "flow" to its lines, somehow, that I can't really explain.

It looks god-awful with a top, though. This screams "ONE PIECE BODY" quite loudly.

Top: Graphite finish,
Bottom: AAT finish,

That graphite is freakin' awesome. It's what I'd actually want an AAT guitar to look. :P

While I'm on the fence about the guitar, I really dig the bass. Ugly, functional themes seem far more appealing on bass somehow. No base price listed so far, but if it follows the pattern set by the guitar prices, it should be 1199; $100 over the Aries.

So.....a completely different guitar!! :laughhard:

I think the bass looks great. Too bad I don't have the money to try one.

Just watched the YT video. Just your 8 string multi scale deal.

Question, how do you practice an 8 string multi scale to get
Good at it before they’re made?

Anyhow. Honestly most can’t play 6 freaking strings well.
8 is harp territory.

Now get off my lawn!

The guitarist in the video is 17. Does that help anything? Probably not.

I like it! It's very striking, and the bevel->bridge tuner scoop is genius... I hope that he sells a lot of these!

Actually...the more I look at it through the various pics that have been released...the less I like it.

It might be quite a functional instrument, but from a pure aesthetics perspective, personally I just don't like how disproportionate that lower horn is with the upper part. It does really look like a whale lol

Tuner placement is a plus over the Vader if you play in the classical position and you use a trem, your much less like to
Disrupt the tuning while playing Zues.

Similar, but the First Act is visually proportioned a little better. I think we're learning the value of having an approval committee for new designs.

I like the bass version better than the guitar version, but neither one really floats my boat. Glad I went ahead and ordered my GH3 before the end of the year. I am sure, however, it plays and sounds great and I am also sure that a lot of them will be sold.
