HSS GH3?

Postby Dr. Rock » Thu Jan 04, 2018 4:00 pm

I saw Greg Howe a few months ago, he was playing his GH3 but had swapped the bridge pickup for a regular humbucker. My GH3 came in around the same time, but they said they only had SSS pickguards for it.

Anyone know if they now have HSS pickguards for the GH3 (or was Greg's custom ordered elsewhere)?

When the GH3 was released, they even said they would do a HH GH3 guitar, but when I asked Jeff a couple weeks ago if anyone ever jumped on it, he said no.

Dr. Rock, my GH3 came with a Seymour Duncan Little '59 mini-humbucker in the bridge position. I don't know if that pickup would help you at all but I like it.

I thought the Duncan mini humbucker in the bridge was the standard rig on the GH3?

It is. In a recent video Dr. Rock mentioned, his guitar has a full-sized humbucker. It does come with the SD mini HB, which would still fit in the SSS pickguard, but Greg had an actual HSS pickguard.

No I get that part, I was replying to the guy above my last comment who made the mini 59 sound like an option.

I do have the 'lil 59 bridge in mine. It sounds really good! A clear and rich PAF sound for sure. There's something about a full size humbucker though.

Here's a short clip I posted of Greg's HSS GH3, from a Houston show a few months ago.

Though this is an awful photo, take a look! It's possible!

Nice guitar! Awesome to be able to get a full-sized humbucker in the bridge position. Other great guitars would be an Aries, a Bolt, or a Solo!
