Spalted Maple w/ Black Denim?

Postby claxor » Sun Feb 11, 2018 10:12 am

Has anyone ever done a spalted maple top with the option 50 black denium on the top? (no burst)

Just wondering what it would look like.

Thanks!

In my opinion, Denim needs flame or quilt. So, if you do order spalt, I would ask for a piece with a high amount of flame or quilt figuring. I think a highly figured spalt, would look awesome.

Also, is the black denim color end up more "sand"-colored or more brownish? (not a fan of black transparents which end up looking more brown than dark grey/black.

This is the most recent Denim finish I can remember seeing:

I think "Denim" finishes are supposed to look kind of like acid washed jeans. So, the coloring is more of a faded jeans look. Not a bold, strong coloring. If you want bold strong coloring, you should ask for deep black flame. or "Deep" whatever color you want.
