Of course it'll mean different things to different folks, but I suspect that's where the most vocal against the DC127 discontinuation. would probably say at least "pre CT", if not the previous 24.75" versions with the similar body style but with Kahlers, black pointy headstocks and large logos, and then for others it's the the Les Paul Jr-ish DC150/160, stereo guitars era...
When I referenced "old school guys" I meant old farts like me who aren't interested in headless, multi-scale, 8 strings, etc. Guys who like more classic designs. Variations of the Les Paul, ES-335s, Strats, Teles, etc.

Are you in my head!?!? LOL. This is 100% me! In fact, that describes my first love- a '86 DC200T but with the scroll logo. Best neck I've ever played. Fits my hand as if they made it custom for me. The_Three_Carvin_Girls-03.jpg

Yep, that describes me. I'm offically in the old curmudgeon category now. I tried 7-string but it felt like walking with two left feet. I tried headless but hated it so much I returned it. So I'm not even gonna give multi-scale a try. Bah humbug!

Oh wow, I JUST ordered my second DC127 early December! So are there no similar "budget" guitars with a TOM bridge now? I hope CT6 and CS6 stick around until I can afford both of those!

I guess your right, I guess most of the truly old school guitars are gone and I'm grasping.
My Kiesel/Carvin collection: ST300 (M22SD bridge, S60A middle, Twin Blade neck), SCB6 (S22B bridge, S22J neck), Bolt Classic (AP11's in all positions), SH550 (S22T in the neck and bridge), CS3 Goldtop (Beryllium bridge and Gambale neck), AC375, CL450 and CC275 12 String.

But what about the DC600? Neck-through, pointy headstock available, Floyd Rose available.
I would think you could deck out a DC600 so close to a DC127 that no one could tell the difference.

Does it come with the option for rounded body sides?

The horn extends further on the DC600, there's slightly less body mass behind the bridge,, the DC600 is only 25.5c scale, and the only edge detail available for where your arm touches is the squared-off "BBE" style edge. Even if you add the bevels, it doesn't really change the forearm contour area. The DC127 was either chamfered (standard) or rounded (optional). Also, while they would do direct mount pickups on the DC127, I'm not sure they would add bezels to the DC600.

ahh... too bad...
My first nice guitar was an early 90's DC127 in Electric Green-- the same color as the guitar in that Joey Tafolla ad. That was the best color-- it had that light coat of blue over the green so it subtly changes color in the light (Kiesel should bring that finish back-- it's way better than Radiation Green or KRG). Had the sharp points-- I never liked the rounded horns on a DC-127. ick.
The only reason I bought this guitar was because Guitar Player magazine had a "Guitar Shootout" in '91 or so-- I had been thinking about buying an Ibanez or something, but the Carvin DC-127 kicked the ass of everything else in the shootout, and it wasn't even close. So I ordered a custom 127-- I still have the piece of paper somewhere, where I wrote down with all the options I wanted-- because we had to phone in orders at the time. My mom was standing over me the whole time I was on the phone, yelling in my other ear, making sure I didn't mess up on my order. Haha. The paper has all my scribbles and doodles that I drew while I was on the phone with Carvin.
I got the active electronics and a Floyd and reverse headstock... And I think it came to under $700 total.
I couldn't believe it when I cracked the case and saw that bright neon green beauty. When I opened the case it smelled like vanilla-- it still does, oddly. Every detail was perfect. The neck thru body-- unbelievable quality construction, made in USA for a price a burger flipper could afford. I've put countless hours on that instrument.
Every time I take that guitar to the shop, it gets compliments. The guys always tell me that it's the most playable guitar they've ever played. I love all my guitars, but nothing plays like the 127. I'll never part with that instrument.
DC127-- best guitar Carvin/Kiesel ever produced.
HH2 -Tobacco Burst
DC127-- Electric Green
AC375--Emerald Green
JBV6--Ferrari Red

I don't get why they discontinue anything at all. Obviously Jeff is dong a good job and it seems the company is in a way better place than it ever was, but they have so much unique stuff in some of their discontinued models that it seems nuts to me especially since they are made on CNC.
They were maybe the only brand to offer a neck thru tele shape that was fully customizable, the CT 7 was just cool, and in my view the the non rounded DC 127 and DC 727 where the best looking Superstrats on market especially with the DC 600 headstock. The new DC shape just looks off to me.
I get that the don't want to crowd the site and create confusion, but they could have all of their old shapes as option 50 and not have them on the site, same goes for headstocks. I really wanted to order a DC 727 this year, I called several times and they said its a no go, I ended up buying a used one (which is pretty perfect but not the exact specs I would have wanted).
I think they are loosing some customers like that, maybe not many but how much does it cost to have the CAD files available? One odd order would cover that.

It’s weird man, I agree. I get it but I don’t. As you can see from my signature I glad I bought when I did because they discontinued 2 of the models

This is quite sad for me because the DC127 is my favorite Carvin guitar. My son and I have ordered 4 of these models over the years. This "Emerald Green" Cali burst is one of the last ones made by Kiesel. I took possession of it Fall of 2020. Sorry for the fuzzy pictures, Lint on the inside of my camera lens.

Posted just today. "Kiesel only shows pictures of fancy expensive finishes and woods, and only show what they want to sell"...so here's a photo of a model they discontinued, in a solid color. 150634061_2881476135469003_6350578205508399308_o.jpg

Hm... other companies bring back their 80s collections, isn't the DC127 exactly that? I own enough guitars (yes, really... but don't ask me next month!) but there are two Carvin/Kiesel missing in my collection: a DC127 with a quilted maple top in deep red, and of course a Floyd Rose a CT6 with a Floyd Rose Guess that won't happen....
