Their 3 color Classic Sunburst looks good on mahogany too. there was a DC3M in that color at the Santa Ana store one time that I almost bought and still wish I would've.

Vintage Yellow over maple body, but it's got a mahogany/maple neck, back of neck tung oiled. You can see how the VY makes mahogany more orange.

Thanks! I actually almost went with a mahogany body with plain maple top, but I wanted the brighter look of the yellow on the maple over the whole body and not the orangey look on the back. It weighs about 9 pounds.

Thanks for the details, toejam. I've admired that axe for some time and have wanted to borrow your specs more than one time. That guitar exudes mojo.

:) It's a great player. You can borrow my specs if you want, no problem!
I've heard maple bodies can be bright. This is pretty well balanced in sound and doesn't seem too bright to me, but that may also be due to the mostly mahogany neck going through it.

Classic Sunburst, I think they called it. Strange that it's not on the "Colors and Wood Guide" page anymore...

I like your guitar Bredo. I have a dc127 all mahogany w/ the classic sunburst. I think yours is one of the only other ones I've seen. Anyways, nice build and good taste.

Ah, classic sunburst, that's right. There's a little red in there to make it one step above tobacco sunburst, and I love both colors. :)

Yeah, that is weird. They also got rid of vintage yellow on the flamed and quilted tops.

I guess I missed this thread. Wow, there's some amazing finishes here!

Here's my 'color on dark wood' entry: Crimson red on walnut. I requested a darker walnut. It looks blood red indoors...

Image

In sunlight the grain and dimension of the walnut really pops.

Well, I told him in his thread to post it here...but he didn't, so I will.

I seriously couldn't have expected any better than this. Pictures don't normally do guitars like this justice, but in my case it's 2 fold because I'm a TERRIBLE picture taker and my phone kinda blows for pics but here you go none-the-less!

OK, thanks for clearing that up. I'm not saying that I don't have senior moments - but its nice to know this wasn't one of them.

^^ That limba looks amazing. Anyone know its weight compared to walnut? (My 'nut bolt is a backbender.)
