Their are a fair number of cherry burst Koa, but not enough Sunsetburst-edged Koa, which I think would be amazing.

Here's my 'color on dark wood' entry: Crimson red on walnut. I requested a darker walnut. It looks blood red indoors...

In sunlight the grain and dimension of the walnut really pops.

This is my fav stain I remember on here there was a Dc135c with crimson red, figured walnut top, Birdseye maple board, chrome hardware. It was a beaut.

Really really nice bolt you have there. I like it a lot

This was my old H2 with a Sunset Burst edge. It was all mahogany.

Agreed, waste of a piece of claro. The figure is just too faint, in the photo it essentially looks like a solid paint on the top. Shows better on the back.

What??? That's Claro??? :? :? :? :?

I'm going to reserve my opinion until I see photos of this guitar in sunlight. What looks like flat gray in the photo studio might become a magical chatoyant beast in the right lighting conditions.

Yeah, it's a DC400W, so claro top. I can see some hints of figuring as I've looked closer but it's kind of a smudgy mottled look.

For the record, I didn't post it because I liked it, I posted it for posterity. I remember there was someone asking about "bleached" or whitewashed walnut, so I thought some might find this helpful. :)

I actually like it! 8) It's probably even better looking in person.

It would be nice if there was a option for mohogany top on the SH550 and FG1.
With a red stain and silver or gold hardware would be gorgeous and classy.

I bet they would do it as an option 50 (I mean...not really, because there would be a real option code for it...but...you know...), and at least now that they have made the plain maple top standard on the SH550, the price of entry would be lower since you are no longer automatically paying for a flamed maple top.
