Shame too, because it's a reallllllllly beautiful maple top. That flame looks like a wind playing over the surface of calm baywaters.

I suspect that in real life the aqua on the outside transitions a bit more smoothly to blue, in which case I can dig it.

They're two colors that really don't functionally blend -- it's like fading from strong green to strong orange... it just doesn't work. The color temperatures shouldn't both be so nuclear. They just lay next to one another.

Someone posted a NGD pic of their Osiris. I think the Aurora+black limba body works very well.

I know, right? The direct-mounted pickups is a nice touch, too. I don't normally mind rings, but on such a small body as the HH, they seem disproportionately chunky.

That HH2 has no controls, what's up with that?

Holy crap, I just noticed that. I was just going to post the exact opposite of spud and colossal that I'm not really fond of the lack of bezels on the pups (although the gold works well for me w the wood color of that wild burl)... but huzzah, whassup w no controls at all? Does he just want that burpy middle position on all the time without variation? It's a great tone don't get me wrong, but no jazzy neck and no cutting bridge by themselves?

I have two guesses:

1) Someone's putting in their own preamp that required specific knob locations, and/or I could see an HH2 customer being the type that would want the knobs to be in the exact location they want them, rather than leaving anything to chance for it to not be quite right (for them) from the factory.

2) Just yesterday, actually, I watched a video from Rob Chapman (yeah yeah, I know) where he talked about his 10 favorite guitars he owns (no, they weren't all Chapmans). One of them just had one pickup and one knob, and he said he wished he could have gotten it with no knobs at all..."just plug in and go", and use a EQ and volume pedal. Not my thing, but I could see for the purposes of recording direct that one might want the fullest, most "raw" guitar tone to hit the DAW, to give the most flexibility with eq and reamping later.

Great eye for color DocT, that's spot on.

For one pup I could see that, but two, for being stuck in the middle LP position forever?

No bridge, no neck? That's an odd tone to be nailed down into. It's a great position (just ask Duane Allman), but it's very breathy and skoinky and lacks the hammer of the bridge, and the round fullness of the neck.

The argument re: specific control placement holds also for toggle switch placement. That HH2 is a blank slate for exact positioning of all controls.

True story. Personally, I couldn't justify spending as much as that person did on an amazing top and PME board, without then just having Kiesel put the knobs where I asked.
