The FG1 was changed (per Frank's request) to not have f-holes, like it had when it was originally released, to mitigate feedback.

Ah...OK. Saw that and thought the SH445 would not be available with F-holes. I sit around and build the guitars I want and the SH445 with F-holes is one of those...so as long as that is available...I hope.

I wanted an SB5000 too...and now that's gone... Guess I need to tell the wife where the priorites should actually be...

Always act on impulses so you don't miss out. :)

The back gets finished to match the top on the FG1...the SH445 is clear by default on the back. :) The neck heel is also shaved a bit further back on the FG1 than the SH445, to go with it's slightly thinner neck.

My first Carvin was a CS6 for about the same reasons you got a CS6. Love my CS6...

I was infatuated with all the quilt and flame tops showing up on the forum...I wanted every one.

But I had to order a strip down bolt for my son...just a swamp ash bolt, red with black burst. I played it and fell in love...and had to have a bolt for myself. So I ordered a classic white bolt. I love it. Plays as well as any blinged out bolt out there...and when you play...how much of the top do you see?

The bolt is the best Carvin deal in town....so I ordered another with diff pickups. If you want a Carvin and don't choose the crazy-a$$ woods...you get a killer guitar at a killer price.

Don't get me wrong....I want the killer woods. But I also realized I can get two beautiful playing plain guitars for the price of one bling.

Having said all that...go with the one you really want because you will buy it eventually anyway.

...And we all want to see the great creation you come up with!

Absolutely true.
Not only the best Carvin deal, but the best deal for the money of "that great quality level" guitars out there IMO.

All Carvinites should have a Bolt

One bolt I dream of would be spec'd similar to this Suhr.
Not about the quantity of the figured top, but what the overall design and looks do together.
Gives me a pretty big smile.

And I just think with what Carvin has been putting out lately it would look even better.

If I ever get a chance to do one someday?
Gloss, either black sides and back or possibly a one piece swamp with natural ATT. It comes out kind of smokey that way and that could be nice.

As soon as they come out with a 7 string bolt, I'm in. 6 stringers just don't feel right any more.
Current gear that matters:
CS6 in Deep Green Quilt
DC700 all walnut, claro top
SCB7 in aquaburst burl.
V3M with 2x12
DC7X in purple Cal-Burst with purple Kiesel fretboard (13 of 50 on GP run)

I always liked this one. Always thought it was strange with a stoptail and also ferrules for the strings through the back.

And, of course, the one I bought from the In-Stock section back in 2002.
