Normally I'd be inclined to keep it a secret since it's such a rarity and I mght want it myself.. but no more detours with my money. Even a mint hardtail DC160 in solid super-figured maple or koa from 1984-6 couldn't deter me from the saving I've reinitiated for the CS6. . . well.. maybe that actually might be able to.

But for what you get, and the rarity, and the 999 opening price... I'd seriously consider this DN. The doubled up AP6 style buckers. Thing about this shape is this: sitting upright it kind of looks odd. But turn it on it's side and it looks pretty cool.

This would have to come in as an "unusual" rather than "vintage":

Look at how freaking cool this thing is:

Image

HHII with an Engleman Spruce Top!!

Instead of the H22's it came with it sports an excellent PAF repro--

Manlius Fat Diane's replacing the stock Carvin H22's.

That is a way cool customized instrument right there.

darn sweet. I'd love one of these things, but at set neck/all solid maple, the things got to weigh a LOT. Still, if I had a grand I didn't really need, and I had all the other stuff I really want...

It's out on the verb, if you hunt for it. But I love these. M22's must sound sublime w a 12.

First video I've found on YouTube of someone playing one of the old single cut cm130/40's (this one supposedly the mono 130). Great sound coming out of that setup:

https://youtu.be/Qus-2hss32c

Rarer still, what looks to be the same model, but with the old Hofner neck, and the awesome AP 6 humbuckers (APH6)... The double coil version of the legendary AP6.

I swear, Jeff should just bring these two AP6 series pickups back. Even if just the AP6 single coil to service the neverending cry for a P90 style pickup. It's theirs, it's legendary, it's on classic guitars, they could probably contract out to Eastwood for their reissues, etc.

Check out this creature from another planet from verbworld.. image quality isn't very good. Supposedly a 1960 doubleneck guitar/bass:

Look at it from the back... yikes!

That is one strange and surreal creature. It looks like a mandolin that lost its mind on a bad acid trip and then quadrupled in size due to a thyroid issue.

I don't know if anyone has seen this ST300 before, but it has what appears to be a pretty unique finish on it, allegedly called "apricot"

Image

The top is claimed to be a burled maple top. To me it looks like quilt gone a little bit awry in that in between point (like that wild quilt that the guitarist from GBH has that I talked about down below.). This thing is just outstandingly beautiful. it's not overboard, but it looks very stately, almost like a colored rare marble or huge gemstone:

Hmm...it looks like an early burled maple, but doesn't look much different than their Vintage Yellow (not "Deep"/no DTS). I know there was never an "official" color called Apricot in the life of the ST300, though.

https://reverb.com/item/6075132-carvin- ... 14-apricot?

He...even the URL asks "apricot?".

I do love the "duel" "input" jacks. :laughhard:

Vintage yellow usually looks, well, more yellow. This looks a little browner and richer but hey if it's vintage yellow it's vintage yellow. I'm here only to admire the nice guitar, not duel (see what I did there) over the sellers appellations?

BTW, the url
https://reverb.com/item/6075132-carvin- ... 14-apricot

I think he's getting the term from PRS' apricot finish.

Now, about that actual guitar... :laughhard:

An AMAZING old 150 just appeared in auction on Fleabay. 1977, with receipt, all case keys, instructions, etc. Absolutely mint with those giant APH6's (?):

Image
Image
Nice flamed maple neck.. just before Mark started making his own, so bolt on rather than set. (on the right vintage instruments, nothing wrong with that):
Image

Starting bid at $649, no bids yet.
even the original warranty card in mint condition. Looks like it was ordered, put under a bed, and NEVER played. Someone will score an exceptional vintage Carvin.
Image

I've always wanted to try these pickups. But I've got my eggs elsewhere and can't upend my mind into this. But it's quite the opportunity.

Here's my '79 CM130 along with my '09 SH575. It's hard to believe it took me 30yrs to get back into Carvin. A lot happened during that time: Dental School, career and family. I think most can relate. I purchased the CM130 shortly before going off to school and believe me it was, and still is, a great stress reliever.

A hugely beautiful, flamed maple 225 for sale on the verb. I think a floating trem like a Kahler or Floyd is a little incongruous on a traditional guitar like this, but it's still one hell of a beauty:

I remember spud once linked a post from Jeff's feed, of a guy who played a vintage Carvin double neck that was bass/guitar, with the solid maple body and the old APH6 humbuckers. One just appeared on the market--total awesomeness--

While I am certainly not a fan of that switch cover plate, this is an excellent example of what quilt can look like before any sort of deep finish is applied. Whenever I get around to ordering my sh6, this is the type of quilt, and the type of finish, but in a different color, that I would be hoping for.

Mid 80's V220.

"Why isn't anybody making an offer on this genuine article, set neck Gibson scale vintage beauty? Must be becuz Kahler fell outa favor in the 90's and it's turning people off. I can't see any other reason...."

Nothing vintage here.. but slightly unusual because it's a very traditional, almost heritage cherry burst
Image

(kind of has a drip of brown in the color taking it in the direction of some of those sweet 70's bursts with the black hardware, like these:

very much like my Northen, too.
