Du-ayum. I'm fighting to not to buy this guitar. Everything about it is pure orgasm. Great lead guitar.

I love how this 135 is wired with 3 simple on/off switches. It's so ideal. Skunk Baxter Firebird territory.

Ho-ly KE-RAPP!! LOOK at this thing--regardless whether or not the claim of this guitar constituting the last 7 string HH ever made, this guitar is insane. This goes beyond the incredible walnut top:

Image

and the fact that it's a rare 7, if that's your sorta thang.. what knocked me out about this axe is the limba on the body.. look at this freaked out orange blotching in the black limba figure:
Image

It's almost like Alien.. and there is a baby plank of koa growing inside the limba getting ready to burst out.

Straight on of the back showing the purpleheart neck:

Pretty extraordinary HH7.

I'd have to say that's definitely top 5 walnut for me...and I'm one of those who, while I love koa, the best walnut will top the best koa in terms of looks, nine times out of ten.

Check THIS mutha out! 1940's Kiesel (not Carvin) amplifier, 2 6V6's, rated around 15 watts . . . it's a Carr Mercury V!! :laughhard:

But checkit!

"All point to point hand soldered wiring!" LOL!

The ORIGINAL Kiesel logo!
Original vintage RCA tubes still in there!

The listing.

(I love how it says, "Probably want to put in a grounded plug prior to use on stage. " Maybe should add: "Don't play in outdoor gigs in the rain..")

Aint that the coolest? It'd be cool to run a Zeus or an Aries thru that baby, and connect the two Kiesel eras.

Further evidence that whomever is in charge of pricing at Southside Guitars is completely off his brain.

Image

Cool guitar, but $4250 for this 57 Carvin is completely bananas. The amp from the FORTIES is under $600!

Worst pickguard on nicest wood?

1992 135:

The guitar is ferocious. The handmade (gotta be) pickguard is ridiculous!

Didn't wanna get pick swirl on that lovely wood, eh? I can understand that. 8)

It really is insanely beautiful koa. I love that old stripey, ropey koa thick with figure and wild colors like this. But even for old growth stuff this piece is wild in terms of the palette of colors in it. It goes from grey to blonde (that bechemely ooze that I love in contrast to the rest of the colors) to red to rusty brown, orange and almost black. It almost looks in spots like black limba.

I just wish he cut that guard a little less amateurishly. While I can sympathize with his urge to protect that amazing body wood, the beauty of the guitar almost begs for it!

PS: and I thought that THIS was a nice DC135K!

If I had the extra bread right now, this thing would be mine.

Speaking of vintage, this bad boy just popped (yesterday I think). A 1973:

Look at all these switches, on a straight Tele style horizontal plate! What I R E A L L Y don't understand is I think--think--that the jack is plated up in the middle between the two bridges on that same control plate...? Are there any or many other double-necks that have the jack plate mounted in this spot??

Image

I'm sure this case was not for weaklings... two necks, solid bolt on maple solidbodies...

Wow, Lowell Kiesel was like, 7 decades ahead of his time.

Looks like it was built for someone who was taking on the Mike Rutherford role in a Genesis tribute band. :)
