Not a fan of that burst. The black flame looks awful to me against the classic cherry burst colors (which are very scantily applied).

I could see how someone could like out, but in not a fan of the "dirty" look.

You know, I'm OK with the Caliburst on a CS - but it still needs to be teardrop. Y'know?

Nah, all my favorite LPs have the perimeter burst. :)

A non-traditional color burst would be better IMO. Nightburst, Forrestburst, Aqauburst, etc

The classic cherry burst next to the black flame looks weird to me too
Current Carvins:

2016 Black n Blue VSEVEN
2017 TT SCB6

Some sort of multiscale 6 HSS with RAD ASH
JB Numbers Guitar (July sale has given me the itch!)

Agree with this all day long in general about preferring a teardrop. But just don't like that dark flame against atrad burst.

I'm not really a fan of Cali burst in all but a very few examples - that recent Amber burst (Aries, I think) that Jeff has been showing off is pretty awesome, though.
Ichi on Jobutsu (Enlightenment in one tone.)

Kiesel
- '17 Fatboy, Deep Lava Flame
Past tense
- '02 Fatboy; '04 CT6M; '07 Fatboy; '11 Bolt+

I agree totally! I've never really gotten into the Cali-burst though. The clear centre always looks weird to me.

Oddly enough, the "Ocean Burst" LP Classic I bought back in May is, at least technically, a perimeter burst - but the fade is so subtle it doesn't feel perimetery. If you know what I mean.

Perimitery! That's my word of the day! Awesome!

But I know what you mean. There are some perimeter bursts where the fill at the neck/cutaway area gets a little fat and cloudy and you're not sure what you're seeing.

Before we get too carried away...that's not even a real word, is it? :)

Don't get me wrong, I love words that seem like they should be words that aren't (for example, "firmth" and "pocketry"), but just want to make sure we know where we're at.

Of course it's not a word! That's why I love it so much!

I'd say that the word is tangentierially phenomenalistical.

That said, in classic colors, I think the teardrop burst is best, but with some of the newer colors (blue, aquaburst, etc) perimetery bursts are fantabulastic.

Only very loosely tangentially related to the linguistics derailment of the thread:

Perimetery is a perfectly cromulent word.

Also, a great band with Misha Mansoor.

No, Periphery is Misha Mansoor's band. Perimetery is the process of recording the readings of an instrument.
