I never cared much for that headstock on the CT models, but it's growing on me.
Yeah I didn't want it that is for sure. They released the "new" Headstock 3 weeks after I ordered this and I didn't want to call and change it again.
One thing that did upset me was that they got rid of the old headstock but some how I saw they brought it back again??
Either way I do like it in person. Not as bad as I thought.
Great looking guitar - I've always liked this headstock w/ the CTs.
What's the "new" one?
The only two I see in the builder is your's and the new inline.
They brought back the original CT7 headstock or somethinng else?
The new one is the holdsworth headstock. Which I absolutely love. They make it in 7 string now.

Re: New CT7!
I prefer your headstock over the holdsworth.
Holdsworth always looks stunted to me.
Especially one non holdsworth bodies.

Re: New CT7!
The first version of the CT7 headstock was weird with the tuning keys lining up, then they redid it with the offset tuners that made it look better. I think they finally decided to abandon it for the pointy version now. I would have went with the old DC727 or the new Vanquish/Holdsworth headstock (which is similar to the DC727 version anyway).

Here's a photoshop someone else did of the original CT headstock, and the DC727 style on CT7s:

It's interesting looking at those. I think I prefer the one I ordered haha. The CT style looks silly with that odd placed tuner. I don't know why they didnt put it in the center of the headstock?

Me too. It came out 3 weeks after this order though. Oh well. Im certainly happy!
The only problem I'm noticing with this guitar is it is substantially heavier than my DC727. I've yet to weigh it but it feels at least 2lbs heavier.

Re: New CT7!
Well, that is a lot of maple and a big solid slab of mahogany. Doesn't surprise me to be a little heavy. Unless you got the chamber option. Then it would be odd.

Nice. Glad you like it. It was a gift to myself for getting a promotion. Then a divorce happened.
I had always loved the looks of it but the string spacing and the weight got to be too much so it sat in the case.
Next time I won't go with a walnut body. That neck alone was over $500.

darn.. sorry to hear that dude.
I could see the weight becoming an issue, it is very heavy for sure. I love the way it plays tho, the neck is big and sexy and I love it.
The only thing I'm most likely going to do is block the trem. I just dont use it often enough, and it should add some sustain and volume.

It's all good! Glad it went to a good home!
I've been struggling on and off with guitars lately. I've switched to Ibanez for now. I have a J-custom 7 string, RG752 in RFR coming soon and a RG550 DSY.
The Carvin necks are just too narrow I guess.

I love the stainless frets too much to do that, haha. And I dont really care for the wizard necks, I prefer a 'v' shape neck, so the wizard is pretty much the farthest from that. I had a team j craft prestige for a good 8 years, but it just sorta felt like a 1 trick pony (especially for a 6-string). My kiesels (I also have a cs324 rn) just had "it" from the second I picked them up. I feel just as comfortable playing blues as I do metal on them. Bottom line, they just put a smile on my face, I can't ask for more than that.
Also, I want to see if the guys and gals at Kiesel would refinish the body with a satin finish, for a price. I'm thinking it could save a decent amount of weight
