Another outstanding build, John. Are you happy with the Berylliums? I hope this guitar exceeds your expectations. Thanks for the photos and the update.

The neck pup comes in at about 6.5k and reminds me a little of the SD59. When played clean, it has a very even tone, nothing special (I like the Holdsworth neck better for cleans). When played through a Kemper Marshall rig, medium to high gain, it comes alive. Solos have a singing, almost vocal-like tone that I really like.

The bridge pup comes in at about 7k. Played clean, it has a slight out of phase tone. Again, there are other bridge pups that I like better for cleans, but just like the neck version, he magic happens when the gain is turned up. The bass notes have a bit of a low end growl without being muddy, while the leads come through with a kind of cocked wah tone.

If cleans are your thing, you may want something else. But if you like your tone on the dirty side, you should like the berylliums.

Thanks for this report! Very helpful. Any comments on how the neck pickup might be suited for Jazz?

It would be fine, but I would prefer the new Kiesel Holdsworth or the old Gambale FG22 (in that order) to the Beryllium.

Thanks a lot John. I have tried the KH Neck (in an HH) and found it to be very articulate and clear, but even rolling off the tone considerably, it didn't remind me of a traditional jazzbox type tone, but the cleans were killer.

Your latest build is really nice. Congratulations!

Wow. Those are some (for PAF style humbuckers, for this company for humbuckers generally) some low DC resistance numbers.

Thanks for the report on the sounds John.

Soooo, is that like when a guy gets a "massage" from someone? Pickup milking? I had to :laughhard:

Guitar theorem: G=X+1 where G= guitars one needs, and X = guitars one has.

Do or do not; there is no understand.

That's what I thought too. I wonder what wire they are using. With alnico V magnets, 42 gauge awg (as is customary for pafs) wound at any less than 8k on the bridge pickup sounds real thin. Heavy formvar maybe?

EDIT: where are my manners? Lovely Vanquish, John.
