NUGD! CS6M with a diffference

Postby ElfDude » Mon Jun 18, 2018 9:05 am

I've been saying that someday I'd own a CS6, and that day has arrived. Just showed up here at work. Been on reverb.com for many months. I made an offer and the seller accepted. All I currently have are cell phone pics taken here at work. More info to come.
And if you're noticing the name on the headstock and wondering, I checked with Mike Jones and the answer is yes. 8)

I have some more comments to make, but for now, crummy cell phone pics!

I’m mystified about some aspects of this guitar. Like the battery compartment. And that fact that there’s no push-pull pot for coil-splitting. I’m really curious what Joe had them put under the hood on this one. I probably won’t know until I’m home tonight and have a chance to open up the control cavity and see what’s in there!

Yeah, the woods and the inlays are really pretty.

I have a couple of Carvins with flamed maple tops, but this is my first quilt.

Yep! Me too. I showed Mike Jones the link and asked if it really was Joe's. His response was simple:

Yeah. I don't know if he played it live, or if it was one built to match his that he gave away.

In any case, you can see Joe's requirements on it, like the different knob placement, etc.
This is one that I'll simply have to accept as is and not tinker with it. Need to leave Joe's stuff the way it is.

Sweet score, Elfdude. 8) Wood that expressive still looks amazing all clear.
I'd be interested in the sound of that one, for sure. :)

Sure does look sharp for a plain clear finish, yet quilt top. 8)

This guitar has changed hands a couple times now. We've seen it here before. A nice Joe model at any rate.

So good. :laughhard:

I wish there was a way to work in his AE185, but I can't figure out a way to not stumble over too-many syllables.

Dude. Awesome find. A full video playthrough of the assorted settings and tones is mandatory now, you know that, right?

Also wondering if you could send the cavity cover off to Joe's management team and get it signed. Maybe if you write him a letter, tell him he's great.

Here's what the finish looks like in the direct sunlight.

And here's an out of focus pic of what we find under the hood.

That's what I was wondering... doesn't seem to have enuf controls to satisfy a typical active EQ . . . .

It’s really a lovely guitar Elf. That beautiful clear quilt will keep looking lovely under any lighting. Great score hope it finds a long term home in your collection.
