NGD! My Kiesel CT6m...

Postby AdamKralic » Fri Jul 19, 2019 9:38 am

How D!

I’ve had a few days to run her through the
paces...I’m a happy cat. Got the thinner neck
Profile Tung oiled. GREAT feeling neck. Really top notch
fret work too. Good job fret polisher man...you Rawk!

Speaking of necks: my other gits are a 60s slim taper LP standard and a
Ibanez prestige. The Kiesel neck fits right in between those two and has the best
Feel and fretboard/fret work of the group.

The lithium pickups sound great with my favorite genre: thrash.
Super easy to dial in that early Metallica crunch. For
What I like I prefer the lithium’s in my CT6m to the Dimarzio tone zone in
my Ibanez prestige.

In short...I’m digging it!

it's a clickable link this time, so in that respect, yes. :)

That was a link to an album, and a "img" tag doesn't know what to do with that.

Now...if you take that album, open up an individual image, right click and select "copy image address" or something like that, you get this string of seemingly nonsense: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/fFZ_d ... 92-h669-no

But at least you can then use that individual image's URL in the "img" tags:

Code: Select all

Sweet thanks.

Yeah it’s purple candy. Looks grape (but you can see the quilt)
at night in a normally lit room and gets more magenta and purple in the sun.

Beautiful guitar!
Any idea what the neck measurements are on yours? I saw the measurements for the standard neck on the website but not the thin profile. I also have a 60’s slim taper Paul and an Ibby Prestige...
Im currently planning a DC600 build at some point when I can afford it. Lol

My personal opinion here... Which as always is highly subjective and solely my preference... Kiesel's standard neck profile is perfect for 6 string guitar. I've got smaller hands and always struggled with reach on more traditional profiles like the 60's slim taper. I learned guitar on an Ibanez RG with a Wizard III neck, which had great access but was pretty uncomfortable over long periods of time. I couldn't play longer than an hour or so without my hand cramping up. Kiesel's standard profile is the perfect medium between these two extremes. I can chord anything I need to with no issues and have gigged both my Kiesels for 3+ hours each with no discomfort.

The standard profile is very akin to an EVH Wolfgang if you've ever played one. It's a very natural C shape. The thin profile is exactly the same shape as the standard just, well, thinner. I recommend the standard profile on six string and the thin profile on seven/eight string.

Again, all preference.
Kiesel Arsenal:
--- C6C: Orangeburst Quilted Maple over Black Limba. (2018)
--- SCB6X: Trans Orange/Crimson V-Burst Burl Maple over Koa. (2019)
--- K6H: Fire Crotch Flamed Maple over Roasted Swamp Ash. (2019)
--- D6X: Natural Flamed Koa over Roasted Swamp Ash. (IN PRODUCTION)

Awesome, thanks.
I too have smaller hands. Shorter fingers but pretty beefy and muscular actually. Working mans hands. lol
Sounds like the standard profile is right for me.

All 3 necks are a bit different. The finishes on the neck matter to me. LP is gloss (which I do not like) the Ibanez is a satin finish on neck and is a bit better...but the Tung oil finish on CT6m is best imho. I have similar hands to yourself and find my CT6m neck to be very comfortable.

Fretwork is definitely best on the CT6m. Not even a hint of burr anywhere. The Ibanez however I can feel tiny little burrs / sharp edges on every fret. Not major...and they are consistent but They could use a final polishing of the ends imo. The LP has binding that wrap their ends so not an issue.

Necks are subjective though so kinda hard to give advice on what is good for you. I’ll just say that the CT6m neck won’t feel too large if you can handle a Jackson soloist, modern fender strat or esp m1/2 neck.
