NUGD My second Bolt

Postby ElfDude » Fri Aug 16, 2019 4:58 pm

The more surf songs my new trio adds to our repertoire, the more I wanted something with a trem for them. For months I looked at Fenders and lots of other brands and finally came to the same old conclusion... if I don't get a Carvin/Kiesel I'll just end up selling it. I was delighted when a gentleman on the facebook buy/sell page accepted my trade offer for this old girl. I traded him my Les Paul (and a bit of cash). And I'm REALLY psyched that it's in Harlequin Prismatic. Really hard to photograph, but so amazing in the sun!

Congrats on the NGD!! And what a unique one! Even with what looks like an original black pearloid pickguard (not an after market Fender)!

I got this AP11-loaded pickguard on reverb.com. When the guitar came to me it was loaded with a Fernandez sustainer and a couple of DiMarzio pickups. Not at all what I wanted for surf music and such. Hoping I'll be able to sell those electronics.

Now this pickguard with the AP11s... the seller didn't tell me that it was encrusted with filth... and wired completely haywire. No matter what position you put the the switch in, all three pickups were always on. Took a lot of soldering and a lof of contact cleaner to get it up and running properly. I was a little miffed about that, but it's all okay in the end. 8)

I like it! Some nice Bling Bling. :)
I was taking a break from working on my '60's Greg Noll Longboard, when I saw this. Surf music was on my mind. Think Gidget. Lol. True story.
I can dig the sparkle. There's something in the air.
I have a Pink guitar on the way. I grew up on the '80's hair bands, what can I say.
Congrats!

It was kind of scary, but I took it to a gig the day after receiving it...

Got some better-looking knobs to replace the two beat up ones that both said "Volume" on them...
