Joining the fun: My Carvins!

Postby DeathMonkey » Wed Feb 21, 2007 11:51 am

Here we go, my babies - the Gold Top I use at home, the two black guitars are specifically designed for live use. The finish is triple step black stain with a matte finish over plain maple. My idea was that it look "burned", and that as it wore and the matte got shiny in places, and the inevitable nicks and dings from the road started, it would actually look better, in kind of a Road Warrior kinda way. So I'm not afraid to beat the sh*t out of them - every scar just makes them look more bad *ss - Carvin was reluctant, at first, but the finish has exceeded my every expectation. They both have SS frets, ebony boards, stock pickups, tung oil necks, 16" radius, and sound amazing. I'm planning on ordering two more, perhaps with the higher output pickups. I absolutely love em.

From our show with Asesino at The Whiskey in L.A. - got to see the Carvin showroom in Hollywood ... drooooooool! Was my first show with my new Carvins, and I got a lot of questions and compliments.

dude you have 3 VHT Pitbull heads, my god... btw I love the black CT6T, if it had a Floyd it would look more badass IMO. Great rig man.

The finish does look really sweet, and I envy you your leather kilt. :D

That color scheme does bring out the angles of your carved top quite well!
I'm really a bass player in my heart, because that's what makes the ladies get off their seats and move them. And, I love the ladies.

Thanks, guys! The finish really does look better in context - I have some early closeups that look a little odd, but live they look great, and as I said, as they get dinged, and the matte polishes in places, they'll look even cooler.

Carvin does such gorgeous finishes, but I knew that if I went all quilty goodness, I'd never take them out on stage.

Heres a couple of closeups, just for comparison - again, they look much better on stage:
