Kind of a nondescript start, but I'd be a little oof-y if Alan was standing there watching me from three feet away.

Interesting that he was playing the 22 FG pup instead of his new Kiesel pickup.
Carvin Weaponry:
1985 DC150K (koa) Stereo, M22N/M22SD w/black hardware.
1985 100 Watt X Amp 2 x 12 combo (XV212) upgraded w/ 2 Vintage 30's
...and other gear.

Yeah, that guitar had the C22B and the FG22N. Still excellent pickups.

Yeah if I were going to go SH over the next year or two it would probably be Franks guitar with the F holes (without it-- like this here:

Image

notwithstanding the colors--it just doesn't do it for me. It looks like a disproportionate--in all the wrong ways--DC150.. and the carve on the top makes the stubby horns look weaker, kind of like the flat top 150 viking-helmet horns versus the newer carved top DC6, whose minimized horns so many, including me, just didn't like.)

Either that or I would grab a Hag Viking with some P90's. If it were some years ago it would be ES 335 and look no further.. but today I'd rather have a Wildkat or a Casino than those Gibsons, of which I played a ton and was totally nonplussed. The new Vikings are quite nice--they're brighter than an ES . . . they have their own sound (in many ways like a Carvin semi-H) versus a Gibson, but a very nice sound and quite expressive.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Jeff Berlin almost knocking Holdsworth down before he recognized him!
