Well I'm in San Antonio, for the next couple weeks, but I'll be moving to College Station again soon. So that puts my place out as far as hosting. If the weekend works good for me (meaning no Aggie football or FTXs) I have wanted to make it to a Carvin bash for like 3 years.

Biggest problem I see, is its a big state. Is it going to be north, south, or central???

Didn't realize we've had some new people join the forum! :)

For all the past years its been hosted in Decatur Texas. Pretty far for me and others, but from what I remember some people came in from Oklahoma. I think its in a good location. Everyone pitches in for some food and a place to jam at. I'm hoping T-Bone is around, he's the one who's really helped us out as far as getting us a place and organizing everything.

Austin/Waco area would be convenient.

Where is Decatur? Is that near DFW?

Also, for like 15 bucks I could have shirts embroidered with everyones BBS handle to put names to faces. Not necessary, but a cool idea.

Every year, I say maybe I'll make it this year. Bailed at the last minute on a couple of them (including last year, I think). I made two, the first one in 2004 and again in 2007. Had a blast both times.

I don't lead when I'm there, lol. Terry "T-Bone-BBQ" Hartley has always ramrodded that shindig.

Same here, thats why I'm hoping T-Bone will chime in.

He's been doing a great job getting them together and hosting them. His family even helped out with the food.

When I was there, we ordered from a local BBQ joint. Piles and piles of it. It was almost worth the trip just for that.

I would if I could, but sadly the only other Carvinite I have ever met was a man I spoke to briefly in O'hare.

It looks like there may not be a Texas Bash this year, at least not one hosted by T-Bone.
I've been able to attend most of them. It's always been fun, and seeing old friends and meeting new Carvinites has been a great experience.

Sorry guys...didn't see this thread going here. I should know in a week or two if we'll have one this year. If we have it early/mid-November (6th, 13th or 20th) who could make it?

I'll copy this over to the CMF also...

I can make the 6th or 13th, but not the 20th.

Yeah, that was 2007, my first bash. I remember taking those photos. That was the old place, the senior citizens center in Bridgeport. Seemed kind of appropriate for some of us. And yeah, that BBQ was goooood! The last couple of years it has been at the Lions Club in Decatur. Smaller, and the decibel level gets pretty high. But for the price there better not be a whole lot of complainin'. And yes, both Decatur and Bridgeport are West of Denton.

I have heard through the grapevine that Terry has a lot up in the air. He has done wonderfully with a task that most of us wouldn't shoulder on a bet. So if it works out, that's great. I'll sure try and be there. Can't commit absolutely right now because I don't know what Deb's dog show schedule is in November yet.

I'm not a great musician, but I listen appreciatively. And I now own a Carvin guitar, sort of. It's a Cobalt. (And a small pile of Carvin amps, speakers, & a mixer).

Rick
