Any Florida Carvin Bashes?

Postby LeddieHaze » Wed Oct 05, 2011 7:35 am

Just curious. I did a search for florida bashes in the gatherings forum but came up with nothing. Are there ever any in Florida?

Yeah! I know there are quite a few floridian carvinites. Then again, we floridians are notoriously busy. That could be the reason. Perhaps something simply needs to be organized...

Im over on the west coast. About an hour north of tampa. Hardly anybody's ever heard of the little town im from so I just say "an hour north of tampa" haha. I know there were a few Carvin owners in ocala and I THINK one in west palm area too. But the problem is Florida's so...freaking...huge. Its like California but hot throughout the entire state 3/4's of the year lol.

As LEDDIEHAZE said, we're spread out over such a large area in Florida that a "Bash" would never draw enough Carvenites.

Yeah that's the hard part. If we did a "bash" it would probably have to be in central florida as that literally is the most central location for all of us. Sucky part about that is it's at least 2 to 4 hours from anywhere in the southern most parts of Florida and maybe 2 hours or more from jacksonville. Kissimmee/Orlando area is about an hour and a half from me maybe 2. About the same from Ocala. Is that the normal driving range for folks throwing a bash? Or is it more like an hour tops? Just curious.

Not having ever attended one I really don't know, but if it involved more than 2 hours of driving each way, I'd be unlikely to attend...just my 2¢ worth. I work a schedule set in stone 2 months in advance and unless bleeding or on fire, I can't skip work.

It might be fun - but not that much fun!

When I lived in TX and attended several of the Texas Bashes, we had CoolJay drive from New Orleans to Decatur, which is about 9-10 hours one way. Others drove fairly long (3-5 hours) as well. Most of us got hotel rooms for the weekend. Those were great times spent meeting others and checking out gear.

How about:
Carvin Tallahassee
Carvin Jacksonville
Carvin Orlando
Carvin Miami

Most would probably be able to attend two without driving more then two to three hours.

One in close proximity to the Orlando/Kissimmee guitar Expo would be a decent idea..

My mother-in-law lives in Tamarac (near Ft. Lauderdale), I'm a teacher and down there during school breaks, and would joyfully schlep one of my basses with me if I knew there was going to be a jam.
Basses:
2010 IC4P clear quilt ("White Tiger")
2012 IC5P sunset burst ("Eternal Flame")
2017 VM59K vintage yellow ("Bumblebee")
Amp: Carvin BX1500, BR210 and BR118 cabinets ("The Stack of Doom")
Effects: Boss ME-50B

An old thread that's been resurrected, but I'm in Jax, FL. If it was centrally located like Orlando or something I'm down as long as I've got enough notice.

As is typically the case with all the Bash threads, people will talk about it. Then talk about it a little more. Then express some interest. Then express a little more interest. Then someone may (emphasis on MAY) take the bull by the horns and work on actually pinning down a time and place.

Then some will say they would like to make it, more will say they will try to make it, others will say that they are going to make it.

Then no one actually does.

Rinse and repeat.

:D
