Floor Rack Construction

Postby Spoons » Sat Jul 04, 2009 11:50 am

I was asked to put up building information for my floor rack design, so here it is.

WOW, I certainly hope that is enough information. I'll post more photos here as it gets more complete.

I disassemble the rack on Sunday afternoon and start the painting part of the project, finally chose the primer and paint!!! I have no gigs for 4 weeks that should give me plenty of time to get it done. Can't hardly wait to get this part of the project done.

Thanks!! The laptop was connected to the mixer so we could play along with mp3's at the Bash.

More photos.

Speakers are done.

Rack still needs some of the internal permanent wiring done but this is what it looks like.

Yep, I now have 3 preamps in the rack, Triaxis, JMP-1, Prophesy.
Talk about tone versatility!!!

Eventually the GT-6 and the Prophesy will be replaced with a G-System and a Palmer Speaker Simulator.

Should put some treadplate along the top/front edge, so you can put your foot up on it, to increase the level of "rawk." Image

Hmmmm, interesting idea! I'd have to reconfigure the front cover a bit, but I think that might be do-able.

Spoons, very nice work, well done.

As a fellow guitar player and wood worker, I must say, the workmanship and design, look to be A1.

I'm glad it was painted black, its the ONLY stage color. Wood grain looks great, but for stage, black is best.

I saw BTO warm up for Van Halen 1984 at Joe Louis Arena, mainfloor, Randy Bachman ( one of my favorite guitar player's), had a Amp/wood cabinet set-up that looked and sounded AWESOME!

Spoons got skills. Nicely done. I like your out-of-the-box thinking and you are a practical man. Thanks for sharing. For the people who eat kittens, perhaps weasels are more appropriate.

Nice work! Do you have a diagram for the speaker boxes also? Been wanting to build an angled box like that.

I'm not sure if that was in the group of files that went POOF when I lost my last computer; if not the drawings should be on my backup exterior hard drive. I'll check, but no promises.

P.S. Mesa made one similar and you can find them on ebay once in a while. there are some photos in THIS thread. I have a friend that has one, they sound really good!

Cool. If you find them, great! If not, no big deal. Would be fun to build one and I'm sure I can come up with something. If not, I'll look into that Mesa option. Thanks.

Those CAD files were part of the POOF files. Sorry.

I could take some rough outside dimensions for you if that would help.

No worries. Yea if you don't mind sharing the dimensions, that would be great.
