NGD - Yngwie Strat

Postby JCG » Fri Sep 01, 2017 5:23 pm

Since I have been unable to talk Jeff into scalloping a fretboard, I took advantage of the Labor Day sale and picked up a Yngwie Malmsteen Strat.

Be sure to put a piece of tape on the horn that says PLAY LOUD.

Congrats! I've always wanted one of those, mostly for the neck. They're definitely fun.

Unfortunately this one got sent back.
The slot for the high E string was cut a little too close to the edge, causing the string to occasionally slip off the fretboard . :naughty:

Not cool, and that's a top tier, USA made Fender product. Yngwie should unleash the fury on the person who fell asleep at the nut station.

"Yngwie: unleash the fury on the sleeping keeper of the nut station!" sounds like something that would appear either on a refrigerator with those randomized magnetic words/phrases, or in a game of Cards Against Humanity somehow.

I wonder if it's a neck alignment issue. I've had to "adjust" the neck on more than one Strat in the past, and angle it usually up (toward the upper horn) to get the strings to be where they should be on the frets. I have thought Fender would make sure the necks are aligned properly before sending out the guitars.
