Lol. Isn't a headless drum...a bucket?

So, in Gibson-related news, I found a little beat-up 2013 LP Studio for next to nothing at my local Scam Cash™ store, and talked them down to a reasonable price - it's nothing compared to my Kiesels in terms of playability, fit or finish, but it's got the 'Paul IT factor that my collection has been missing. I'll add a picture when I'm home from work.

A couple thoughts on Gibson and the whole "electric guitars are dead" thing - first, overall quality of guitars has more or less skyrocketed in the last 10-15 years, especially imports on the lower end. Because of this, people on the lower end aren't buying as many super cheap guitars (remember when best buy and Wal-Mart sold cheap electrics in their big box stores?). Also, mid-rangey guitar brands and especially those with online presences (See Chapman, Solar, etc.) have taken off, so I have a feeling (completely anecdotal/unfounded) that instead of buying the cheap crap first, people are saving up a bit more for these nice indo/Korean made guitars and not having to upgrade as many times while learning.

Gibson needs to take a page from this book - epis are still selling like hotcakes. I think if they stopped vying for the doctor/lawyer cash, and maybe had a few models in the 1-2k range, they'd sell WAY more overall.

Good god... the terrible, agonizing GAS of something so far out of reach (only 50 models of this made in the seventies run):

1 piece braz roswood top, honduras (naturally) mahog 1 piece body (I don't think it has a pancake body of a 70's Norlin but there's no straight on shots of the sides.. there's a hint of a scratch or figuring on that first shot that could be indicative of a pancake body.. but frankly I don't care), ebony board Seventies Custom:

What's up with the low E string? Looks almost like picture hanging wire. :ninja:

Actually more like the safety wire we used to secure all the bolts on our race bikes. :ninja: :ninja:

I don't think it's the string itself.. if you look at other pics the string looks completely normal, and in the first pic all the strings have that look... I think it's low def blocking of winding detail in semi closeup.. the camera's picking up the wind on the bigger string, but not able to reproduce the curves. Anti aliasing usually cures stuff like this.

Can scare the living crap outa people when dealing with medical imagery of the inner body. Aliasing artifacts pop up and you're like, "Eh, Carl, you've got this frightening staircase looking phenomenon going on with your carotid artery. I give you," looks at watch, "about thirty more seconds to live.. so I beg you to go get drunk and grab a hooker."

I'm not seeing this specific issue on my phone at the moment, but if it's what I'm thinking of, I see it a lot on my computer on both Facebook and Instagram. Is it where it looks like there's another dark material wrapping around the string from one end to the other? In the comments,
people often ask if it's barbed wire or some kind of crazy new string or something! Haha

Just hit the link about aliasing, it shows what it is. It's just low res inability to render round shapes, so you get a staircase sort of phenomena with oddball coloration in some cases.

Weird. I am on my monitor at work now, a monitor which cost more than my phone that showed the image just fine, and this computer's browser is showing the low-E string all stripey like a B&W barber pole.

I dunno, Elf. You have competition from me on that.

I'm not saying it isn't, but there's not much proof out there to show anything that would discount it being authentic.
