I've seen Steve Stevens with something like this. I think they're great for the upper deck of a pedal board. I may end up getting some. It's cool that they offer them in a variety of finishes to match the aesthetic of the pedals, which makes it easier for visual reference when tap dancing.

They also have glow-in-the-dark versions (blue, green and yellow, I think). I guess it depends how dark the stage is. Yes, Steve Stevens is on their site as an avid user. Also, you can have your band name/logo engraved on the tops.
