SB4000 owners!

Postby Vomicamonster » Thu Mar 23, 2017 8:41 pm

Does anyone have a picture or diagram of how the pickups are wired? I took the J99A's out for a project bass and (temporarily. Barts on backorder) replaced them with a set of H50S's I have. I swear its wired perfectly. Passive mode works 100% but I get zero sound out of active. Checked solders. New 9Vs and msde sure batts were properly put in. HELP PLEASE!

Sorry, I can't help. Maybe post a photo of the wiring. Also, ask at talkbass.com. BTW, I have the black version of the LB50 in your avatar.

did you by any chance have a signal cable in the output jack when you removed or replaced the battery? It sounds like the preamp may be fried.

Is that still a thing? I can't believe their isn't some sort of protection circuit for that.

Not sure, but it definitely sounds like the preamp is toast. I don't know whether a fix was ever instituted to prevent the preamp from frying when a battery is unplugged while it is active.
