Requesting an opinion on a possible finish blemish
Hi all, just received my new VM8 and nearly everything is beautiful but there's a spot near the neck/body joint around the 16th fret that looks like a bubble underneath the finish. Finish is clear satin matte.
Can I get a more professional opinion on this spot? I'd hate to send it back for a refinish and be told it's part of the wood but to me it looks like the finish either bubbled or never adhered to the wood in this area. I've attached the best pictures I could get in afternoon sunlight, the spot is more obvious to the naked eye than it is through the camera.
Thanks,
Joe

Re: Requesting an opinion on a possible finish blemish
That looks like the kind of lifted polyurethane spots that I have around the bridge on my AE-185, showed about about 3 years after the guitar was built. I recall a fair number of posts about it, and what can be done, but pursue it with Customer Service, I in fact have never seen them on other guitars (of which I have too many). It can be annoying to look at, but the guitar plays perfectly in my case.

Hmmm... interesting.
You should give us a call and talk to Ricardo.
He'd be able to get some photos from you and double check with our finishing department, our head tech, and Jeff.
You could also just shoot him an email with your photos.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I got in touch with Ricardo through Manny and I am now waiting for my FedEx return label to show up in my inbox.
