DC127-"Omega." (The last) My 4th DC build since 1989
Well, I got my build in on 11-27 for a DC127 Lefty.
I had no clue at the time it would be my last.
As most of you know, the DC127 is dead as of 1/1/2021
Like they say….all good things, ect, whatever.
With that said, this my “DC127-Omega” build:
Hipshot/Kiesel Tremolo System. I have been using one for 3 years, I have no complaints.
Chambered Mahogany Body. The first and apparently the last lefty to ever be done. I suppose that “cool factor” takes the sting of the programming fee.
Clear K Top - Deep Black Cherry Quilt. But, cut on a “chevron” bias.
Blackburst Edges. Of course.
Rounded Body Sides. So comfy & sexy.
Solid Walnut Neck -Tung Oil. All my necks are Tung oil. But as per Jeff’s recommendation, I am going Walnut.
Standard Neck Thickness. My other DCs have the Thin Neck option. This time, I wanted to try a standard.
Carved Top Headstock. My fave. 3+3 with large keys are very comfy and easy to get precise. Why this isn’t popular baffles me.
Ebony Headstock Plate. I want the white Kiesel logo to stand out for filming.
Ebony Fingerboard, less color variation.
Abalone Block Inlays
Tone Delete. Never use, don’t need it.
Neck Pickup Delete. See above.
Direct Mount Illusionist. I’ll give it a go but, I am a Tone Zoner.
Black Hardware. An obvious aesthetic.
Piezo system. I had no clue this was available, until Jeff said it on a live feed.
As with my other builds, this guitar is for a specific music video.
Ironically, I was planning on more builds to promote the and showcase the DC127s in my music vids.
12 more vids are planned so, I will have to make due.
So the wait begins.
My first build, a DC200, was 21 weeks. (in 1989)
My 2nd was 6 weeks! (in 2013) Granted, there are some paint masking issues.
The last was 28 weeks. (in 2017) There was a delay in producing the first lefty the Hipshot Trem
Jeff said the build time is about 12 – 16 weeks.
(If memory serves)
I will guess April 1st just for fun…that’s about 18 weeks.

I will certainly post pics. I hope Kiesel wont post pics of it before I can see it in person.
But, I doubt they will as, why would they promote a dead model.

You never know. They promote stuff that catches their eye. They just built an extra HF2 for the in-stock, and that's been dead since January.

This whole year's been a blur, and forgot it was January again. Last January.

I missed my Typo, I'll rephrase:
I will definitely post pics…possibly in a defiant manner.

This build sounds super cool! And I'm not just saying that because I'm a lefty too (waves frantically in a crowded room looking for company).
The DC 127 always caught my eye although given the choice I would have opted for the ST300 when it was still around. The sharper edges did it for me. The DC 400 had just too many knobs and switches like you're flying a space shuttle. And I totally feel you on "tone knob?" What tone knob?
I am super curious about the pickups though since I am considering a hyperdrive build (wonder if it will be the first lefty, probably not by now).

I haven't seen a lefty Hyperdrive yet.
I guess the Illusionist is their most mid-focused pup.
If its not a good fit, I am going to try a DiMarzio Dominion.
These have less bass, a bit more mids & treb over the Tone zone.
I already cut a lot of bass in my rig & hype the mids.
(it's based on the Early Boston tone)
Of course that's an older layout. Here is the current rig:

About 8 working weeks in.
I may have spotted my neck in a walkthrough.
That looks like solid walnut, huh?
And it has the correct headstock.
The heel appears to be biased for Lefty.
...what do you think?
This must be the fret dressing bin.

Wizdum,
I totally get where you're coming from. I bought the last SH65 Kiesel ever made.
And can I be the first to say how jealous I am with your Scholtz rig? That Boston sound still moves me. I play a TON of Boston and, while I like the Kemper patches, nothing really feels the same.
Here's the last TL60 they made with a Floyd Rose and MIDI. But, it is a wonderful satin Black Cherry on Quilt. Perhaps the most under-represented beautiful finish they offer.

Re: DC127-"Omega." (The last) My 4th DC build since 1989
Boston altered my DNA forty+ years ago.
That became the Gold Standard of what I expect Guitar Tone to be.
When I started playing, I found my way to the Rockman Modules.
Today I am a fan, a user and a "self-appointed custodian" of the Rockmodule.
(I have been professionally and lovingly refurbishing them for over 25 years)
Thanks.
That rig is the result of 30 years of experiments.
I have tried running many different preamps.
Alone, in series, in parallel...custom builds, tube heads, ect ect.
These monsters grew out of hand and I found micing cabs too inconsistent to satiate my OCD.
I started over again with a Rockmodule direct system, juiced up with vintage tubes.
And EQ'ed it to taste.
Yes, it is a Boston Based Tone. And it sounds "just right" in the mix of my original tunes.
Yes, it moves me as well.
That gold looks very good with that red.
It looks like jewelry presented on fine silk.

I always wondered why Tom Scholz and Brian May never connected musically. OK, maybe that was wishful thinking. But it could have been brilliant.
And I love the look on people's faces when they hear the B Maj/F#/G# progression on the bridge in Peace of Mind, or those first notes of the solo to Let Me Take You Home Tonight.

Do you mean Tom Scholz and Brian May as a collaboration?
I would like to hear that.
I would have liked to have heard Steve Perry and Brad Delp sing together.
(The only singer I follow these days is the Puddles Pity Party Clown)
