jacob5150 wrote:So today is week 9 since I ordered my Aries. I figured I'd send a follow up email asking if my guitar is on schedule. They originally said at time of order that production was 8-10 weeks. They got back to me today saying it's not going to be done for another 5 weeks! I see online the current lead time is 10-12 weeks, so that's even longer than the current build time. Has anyone else experienced a delay like that? I'm just really anxious to get my guitar! But to wait an extra 4 weeks on top of the 10 week build? Ugh :? :?

I feel the pain right along with you. I'm still waiting on my guitar from the 3/05 pick your top session. Hang in there. It's be great when it finally arrives. :-)

Well, after 19 weeks of waiting ( due to a hardware backorder from Hipshot), I received my Aries yesterday. I made an unboxing video which I'll post later ( I've never uploaded to youtube, so I have to look into that  ). It was worth the wait. Photos do not do justice on how amazing the flame is on this top. I'm really pleased with the fretboard too. After seeing many of the Kiesel Guitars with the royal ebony, I was worried what the cut of wood would look like. Sometimes it's almost all dark ebony, with a tiny strip of lighter wood, but this is just a perfect match to what I was looking for. I opened it late last night, so I haven't got to plug it in yet, but just noodling around, it feels very very comfortable. I've been playing an old Peavey Wolfgang with a compound radius neck, and going to the 14 in radius seemed quite easy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but looking at the maple neck, I think I lucked out and got a quarter sawed neck. I remember Jeff saying they started implementing this in March, starting with the headless models. I wasn't optimistic if my build in March made the cut, but apparently it did. Roasted is amazing. I wish I could make much more money, because I would LOVE to get another build put in.

It sounds amazing! I was used to the real hot output of my peavey wolfgang, and these aren't as hot, which I actually like. It seems like I get more articulation in the output. I absolutely love the split coil options, the versatility of tones is great. It honestly plays like some $3000-$4000 guitars I've played before. I used to own a 2006 DC727 back in the day, but playing a 6 string Kiesel is amazing. :applause:

If you have the Lithiums in it (looks like it by the pole pieces try raising them a good bit if you want some more heat, but also consider decking them down as far as they'll go. It's a lot less hot, but fills out the sound a lot and makes them really dynamic. The voicing means you can add as much extra gain as you need with them lowered, but if you want to play around with using fingerpicking or tapping it sounds killer.

I've never messed with the pole pieces before, but that's something I'll have to experiment with! I noticed they are all at different heights, is there a certain method to how close/far they are from each specific string?

Nah don't mess with the pole pieces, they're mostly for balancing string-to-string volume. I have my 6th string one lowered because I use a heavier 6th string in drop D (so it was louder with the factory setup), but unless you're changing string gauges you shouldn't have to mess with them.
Just use the two screws to either side of the pickup on the mounting tabs and drop them all the way down.

So I'm new to the Hipshot trem world. I understand the trem arm just "pushes" in, but do you have to push in and them pull out to remove it? It doesn't seem to be locked in at all, but more just under tension from the tight fit. Sorry for sounding like a noob.

Dive bomb the trem. The back of the trem should rise up. While holding the trem down, look under the trem's base plate, at the part of the block right under where the arm goes in. You'll see a little set screw. That is used to set the arm how you like. It might take a couple tries to get the tension you like, and it will need periodic adjustment.

Oh man, I looked online and didn't see anything. That would've taken me forever to figure out! Thanks for the insight on that! 8)

I don't even see it on Hipshot's own website. It's one of the more frequetly-asked questions.
