That's quite a set up, vivace. It sure seems like a lot to take to a gig. I bet the sound is great though and you obviously think it's worth it. Beautiful guitars! And welcome to the forum.

On a side note does the AG100 sound good with mags if going through a multi-effects pedal/amp simulator? Instead of the extensive rig you have going. I thought it might be nice if one amp could work for my electric and my acoustic.
Got it: Cobalt 750TS
Got it: Bolt
Got it: SC90
Got it: Ultra-V
Need it: FG1
Got it: Nomad
Got it: Vintage 16
Need it: AG200D

We have a forum member here who does just that. Bruce Y, I think. He used an SX300R as a preamp for the mags for years until it died on him. But he was very happy gigging like that, letting the AG100 do pretty much all the work for him.

SX300R? I assume that's a rack mount SX300. Can I achieve the same effect using a Boss ME-25, or a POD?

I have gone out with just the AG100 (without the 2nd cab), too. I really like the Mesa, though, with the AE185 magnetic pickups and I've been obsessing over analog pedals. For the smallest set up, though, I found that the guitar plugged into 2 channels of the AG100 with a Line6 Pod in line with the magnetic pickups is pretty darned good! I absolutely prefer the double cable to the blend out of the one output, though. The piezos are especially sensitive to mid range tone adjustments. When playing in a small club, I can get plenty of volume and a good range of sounds with just the one guitar, the single cab and the pod mounted to my mic stand (and, the mic can go into the third channel of the AG100D, since I am most charitably described as a back up singer!) This all can be carried at once: amp in one hand, guitar case in other and a bag over the shoulder with cables, mic and stand. I always bring a cable to plug the amp output into a PA, if available, so I have lots of flexibility, still. I can't imagine an easier setup. For recording, though, I still get to use the full range of gadgets, which is probably more fun for me than it should be!

You guys are really making me GAS for an AE185, I think it may be the perfect fit for the inbetween tone I am misssing and the thought of both acoustic and electric sounds at once, oh I think I'll love it .
I had a friend with one and he is actuallynthe one who turned me on to Carvin, anyway he always just blended and it sounded good so i can imagine how much better throughtwo amps!!!
I still need that AG100D first though. I am appliing for a part time job to supliment the income from the church, if that goes through it may be sooner rather than latter for both!!!!

P.S., then I can be a member of another club!!!!

Haven't seen very many new ones coming out. I understand everybody wants the new carved tops and 7 and 8 strings but I wonder why there isn't more interest in AE185s anymore. This was the first real guitar I ever wanted and now I can get the one I want.
Hopefully when mine is finished in deep black cherry it will start a rush on these versitile guitars. 8)

It has some new competition these days with the SH65, I think. Similarly priced, similar features plus the synth access thing.

peb...so YOU bought that, eh? Congrats.

I figured I'd dredge up an old photo of my previous AE185. Had it for a while. Sold it to "Flake" (who used to be seen around these parts and over at the Museum). Missed it. Bought it back. Still couldn't bond with it (as I never was able to do with any of my Carvin 24 fret, neck through guitars). Traded it back to Flake for a drum kit. Wound up moving, so I traded the kit back and then sold the AE185 on eBay.

No telling where it is today.

I wouldn't have the slightest idea what to do with synth access and too old to try and learn now.

mge80, thats some nice Walnut there, I had to do a doubble take because it is so simular to my AC275 and there haven't been many guitars with that same look of Walnut lately.
Just curious, what year did you buy that in?
