How did you manage to get a hold of that? It's used of course, right? I saw the thread in the bass forum, had no memory of that bass and just did a search of it and came up completely empty even just on the model number.

Despite it's metal looks, that's a pretty damned versatile bass. Is that a Kahler bass whammy? (Forgive me but I forget the model #).

All passive, right?

Pup replacements sb easy if those are M22's.. the bass pups are M22SD pups, so easily replaceable if needed.
Carvin Weaponry:
1985 DC150K (koa) Stereo, M22N/M22SD w/black hardware.
1985 100 Watt X Amp 2 x 12 combo (XV212) upgraded w/ 2 Vintage 30's
...and other gear.

It was on Ebay...I think it's an '86....I had the model # wrong...I fixed it.
Yes, it's got the Kahler tremolo bridge. Not sure about that yet. So far, so good.

Ok so it should def be passive-- 86 is a good year, just before the active preamp/el34/neck thru craze was getting ready to kick into gear. But the workmanship was stupendous as it is now.

I have to dig out my receipt, I'm sure I have it. I'm in a little bit of confusion: I'm sure I bought my guitar no later than 86, but their museum says that graphite nuts didn't come into being until 1987... there's no way I ordered mine in 87 despite the graphite nut in mine. My drummer and fam says 1985.

I know all black hardware had just appeared, and graphite nuts too. I'm thinking latest was mid 86 out of the early-sent 87 catalogue.. because pick guards were gone by then and mine has no pickguard (but they did leave pickguards off of premium koa and curly/flamed 150's and 160's since before that year). Ah guitar archaeology.

ANyhow, never mind that skully--I'm meandering as usual--congrats on your find. Looks to be in good condition. Enjoy. Looks HEAVY.

You obviously have excellent taste, like this guy! Well, taste in guitars at least. This guy hasn't a clue how to dress himself.

You look pretty freakin cool though my man! Revisiting this thread makes me realize how awesome my two white Carvins are. I have my V220 somewhere in the thread but I still haven't uploaded any pics of my Ultra V that I bought off of eBay over a year ago! I gotta get to that.

Here is my Carvin Ultra V. I believe it's a 2010 model. These aren't the greatest pics but they're all I have. My phone's camera isn't the best.
