Didn't we just do this over on the Guitar Forum? Oh well...

I don't own the Holdsworth Fatboy above - I ordered it but sent it back during the 10 day trial period - beautiful guitar, but we didn't bond...I think if I'd ordered the standard H22 pickups in it, I would have liked the tone better.

The DC150 now has three DiMarzio pickups in it - I need to take some updated pics. I'll post when I do.

Is this a walnut neck? OMG  What's it like? (besides being played, that is)

Yes it's a walnut neck, and it's super smooth. It's silkier than mahogany but without the uber smoothness of maple (if that makes sense). It makes me :D .

I'll get in on this. Sorry for the poor pic quality; but you get the general idea.

Looking at some of the non-figured grains in this thread makes me feel like they gave me something from the bottom of the wood pile. I still think its a good looking guitar, but I'm really impressed w/ some of the guitars on the thread. In all honesty though, it is without a doubt, my favorite guitar in my whole collection.

wickid,

I've loved that DC since the day you got it. I would build one almost exactly the same. I know what you're thinking, "If you like it so much....". Believe me, I'm still thinking about it!

Nice collection of 'nuts there. I too have a walnut fatboy however I got a quilted maple top instead of a walnut top; starting to second guess that after seeing both of yours. Oh, well; just have to save up for another one.

So you have sellers remorse, eh? Where's the pics of your walnuts? I know one is gone. Others may not have seen them.

You have no idea. I don't know what I was thinking. Abut two days after I sold it, I actually emailed the guy who bought it and said that if he ever re-sells it, to please give me the first right of refusal. That was (and is) just a GREAT guitar. I feel like a real dumbass for letting it go, especially since I didn't need the money and was just looking to get a Bolt - which I am not bonding with and will probably go back. I should know better after all these years not to let the truly good ones go, and yet I do and kick myself. How self-deprecating.

Having said that, my CS3M that I picked up from the in-stock section is just a ridiculous monster of a guitar. I still get giddy every time I pick it up. That one will not go anywhere.....ever. I'd rather have my eyeballs paper cut and rubbed in habanero than see that guitar leave.

Of all the Carvins I've had - a LOT - three were truly monsters. One was a Bolt Plus, one was the walnut DC127 I just sold, and the third is my CS3M.

OK, on to pics.....
