My LB70, currently celebrating its 10th anniversary. Walnut body, maple neck, birdseye maple board. The birdseye draws compliments all the time.

Fun fact: this bass is all tung-oiled, but it did not come from Carvin that way. I didn't care for the original gloss finish, so a few years in my dad and I stripped the finish by hand, sanded it down, and refinished it in tung oil. Somewhere roughly during that same time period I also installed Aero pickups in place of the stock J99's.

I now reapply the oil finish every few years, and it only gets better with time.

I can't remember the exact year I purchased my bass but it was the early 90's. Still my only electric bass. I have never played or heard another bass that made me think of playing it over my LB70.

I upgraded the bridge about 5 years ago. It's probably time to oil the KOA wood again. Image

I guess I can join in even if I just purchased an LB76, right? Where are all my LB brothers? For being the oldest still available bass in the Carvin line there should be more than 2-3 posts per year in here! LOL

My 2002 walnut LB70, the original and still the best.

Circa 2004-ish, right before I stripped the gloss and refinished it in oil:

Nice Earthquake! What is that ... it looks like a transparent green over spalted maple or something like that. :)

Thanks Econsean, I think the color is moss green over quilted maple. I bought it used a couple of months ago.

So I got my new LB76 today, so I am an official Carvinite! YAY! I couldn't help myself so I did a really brief demo ... I am a long way from mastering the tones on this bass, but this should give a really general idea about the amazing tonal range of this bass! Love it!!
