My 94' DC200T Koa. I've been looking for one of these for quite sometime. Has my favorite pup combo and favorite Carvin headstock shape.

Grrr...

I clicked this thread thinking it might help me make up my mind. In reality it made the decision harder because of all the beautiful instruments. Keep it coming guys.

Finally gonna pull the trigger and place an order sometime after Christmas. And it will be KOA. :D

edit:
whoa didn't realize it's been 6 years since my first post!

Hey DesmoBob. So what flavor of model are you thinking of? Koa is never a bad choice as a body and neck wood, and it looks so tastey too. But sustained tone is so very good with Koa, I love it. Keep us posted. Oh, if it's been 6 years since your last post, I'd suggest dictating it to someone who types faster.

Welcome back to the forum. I'm looking forward to hearing what you're planning.

Cheers,

Hi guys, thanks for the welcome back.

It's between DC400 or DC127.

Also torn between clear gloss and satin and tung. It just looks so good in all finishes. Clear gloss on koa has a lot of sentimental value (long story). But satin has that bare, natural wood look and feel.

As a kid, I grew up surrounded by koa stuff. Fast forward many decades and many guitars, but never owned a koa instrument. Now it's like a longing, yearning.

Great shots DesmoBob, and outstanding guitar. I love the blackburst edges on the Koa top, warm and natural baby! I've never seen a Koa tree before and my guitar is a Koa neck and body so thank you for that. I guess it get a tad chilly for the Koa trees in Canada

Cheers,

Geddy, when I got off the phone with Keith a hour or two before I seen the pic on Carvin facebook, he had told me that he was down in the guitar dept. looking at it and talking with some of the guys that work down there and he told me that it looked amazing and that id better make sure i'm sitting down when I see it in case I may pass out!!! What a caring gentleman haha, but he sure was right! I had that sorta, "little kid on christmas morning smile" just stuck on my face, the build I had in mind was great but they hit in completely outa the park. That Koa is fantastic and then you get to the fretboard, i've seen some pretty nice rosewood as far as streaking or coloring but never one like that.
