5 piece neck club!

Postby flmdkoasc90 » Sun Sep 30, 2012 3:36 pm

Let's see those 5 piece neck guitars; I think the rest of the world might be interested in the different possibilities and how they look through the different colors.

If you post please reveal the types of wood and what you color options are.

Peace all!!

Big Bad Bull is back!! Hope your schedule allows you to stay in touch a bit more. I remember you being fun to have around. So it sounds like Brown guitars rule again based on your screen name. 8)

Any way here's my two maple with walnut striped LB necks.
Thanks for giving me another reason to post some pics! Welcome back!

Hey, thanks for the welcome back, and brown guitars will always rule. Nothing beats a flamed Koa. I'm giving thought to some walnut though, just thinking things through.

I finished college so now I have time to play again. I went almost 5 years without picking one up. I realize now how much I miss it! The wings on that blond one, what wood is that?

this is a sweet machine. How is the tone of this thing. I'm thinking about a DC 800 with this build or one similar. Is it true what they say about the tone of walnut? do you have any kind of clips of this axe

I've looked at this guitar several times in another thread. Could you expound and the different woods, elaborate on the tone and do you have a sound clip?

Sorry, I'm talking about the 1st guitar, I think it has a swamp ash top!

Thanks for your comments and yes it's killer.

Sorry, no clips and not sure how to. Not very good at that stuff. I'm also not a tone expert but compared to other guitars I've own I would say it is very bright with great clarity and the sustain is unbelievable. There are so many different tones with coil splitters, phase switch, 3 way switch and piezo pickup that the tones are endless. I've been running it into 2 amps at once and haven't come close to using it to all its potential.
As for the walnut itself I absolutely love it. It is solid yet warm and I love the way it feels. It is so much cleaner tone wise than the hss strat I sold. I can get close to the tones of my strat but the strat couldn't get close to what this baby does. Sorry couldn't help more but I'm sure others on here can be clearer about tones.
You can't go wrong with Claro walnut.
:D

1: The V220 is very well balanced when hanging on a strap, and as a bonus, the long lower horn can fit against my inner thigh when I want to shift the neck slightly more vertical.

2: It's very comfortable to play while sitting, though you need to sit on a stool or forward at the edge of your chair so the lower horn doesn't get in the way. It's not a guitar for lounging back on the couch or recliner.

3: The upper horn doesn't bother me at all. The first few times you play the guitar you notice it, but it doesn't interfere at all. It's not nearly as big as the same section on an Explorer.
