I second the vote for black bezels, but I have a suggestion for the truss rod cover... (If Carvin would be willing to do it)

Models that get the full "elite" option get a matching truss rod cover... flamed, quilted maple and so on... This guitar will be so grand what about a matching buckeye burl truss rod cover?

They got two small extra pieces of buckeye burl for the headstock, so they could use that. I'll ask Keith on Monday. Thanks, Crüe! Great idea!

I do wish Carvin offered wood TRCs. I think they look so much better than the plastic ones when there is figured (or nonfigured) wood showing on the build. I've chased down 3rd party wood TRCs for both of my Carvin basses. They could charge a premium for them and I'm sure the vast majority could be made from the scraps. Then they could offer wood control cavity covers, pick guards, and trem plates too...but I digress.

Here is my LB75AP bass with 2 Option 50s and they nailed it for me. :applause:

I too like the idea of being able to order an instrument that is completely unique and I hope Carvin continues to be willing to expand the level of "Custom" in the "Carvin Custom Shop"

It's not an option 50 finish, but I am also the proud owner of this:

Thanks Guys!
Gumby, I still get that  too!

Carvin's ability to build our instruments to whatever wacky vision we can come up with (within reason) is really unsurpassed. When you consider the relative cost and build times, there isn't another company I know of that can compete.

Love this company and the gear they make.

I've actually been pretty bad about posting more pics in the various clubs like the CS club and Burl club and etc but here it is! The anxiety from this Opt50 nearly drove me crazy but I'm really happy with how it all turned out.

BAH!!! I can't stop seeing this guitar! I am so unbelievably jealous of this beauty. Probably my favorite guitar on here! If you somehow become certifiable and decide to sell it, PM me first. I will pay whatever you paid (barring noticeable wear and tear).

Coming from the person who owns some of my favorite Carvins (I have a feeling I'm gonna die when I see your buckeye beauty) that's a huge compliment. You're making me blush!
But I don't believe I will ever sell this guitar, nor will it receive any noticeable wear and tear bahahahaha!!!

Nice guitars!

But what about a thread about the unhappy Option 50 stories?

You know, sometimes people try unusual things and it works out. But sometimes people try things that end up not so good.

So those "fail" stories could actually help others not to make the same mistakes....

2 Option 50's on that? I see 3 possible....

One is the 12th fret only inlays.

Two is the 3 piece body middle laminate layer.

Three is the Icon headstock on an LB series.

Just 2 Option 50s:

1. Is the Chevron pattern of the Flamed Maple Top
2. Is the 12th fret only inlays.

It's an Anniversary Series of LB, so the middle layer in the body is included in that, along with the rounded body. The Icon headstock is just a regular option.

What I found interesting, is that the two Option 50s were covered by a single $100 upcharge. Keep in mind that the regular cost of the options still applies as well. Don't know if that is still how they handle it.

And yes, if you're gonna do it, GO ALL OUT!

Thanks for the interest in my Baby!

I went nuts on my SH65:

1: stained burl
2: custom burst
3: inlay on 12th fret only
4: flame maple back and sides
5: black knobs but gold pup cover
