What do you know ... I hadn't seen this club before. I'll play too. Here's my only Carvin (so far!), a Quilted Orangeburst Koa neck and body CS624M:

And I love her!!

Nice Doug! I was kindof hinting on previous messages/posts whether you were going to use the same name. And it really looks like it belongs there.

Cheers,

No one ever said the truss rod cover has to be attached to a guitar, so I like it. I like it a lot!!

Cheers, literally.

A pretty well known guy named Paul wrote about this a long time ago, and I try to keep it in mind each day.

And theres that Canadian power-trio who wrote a great tune around it too ;)

I didn't order that.
When I worked at Carvin, I saw that truss rod cover on someone's workbench and I made some kind of comment about it.
A short time later, my Bolt was in for repair. When I got the guitar back, it was wearing that truss rod cover.
I won't mention any names, but I believe the head guitar tech did that. That's who's bench I saw it on before it magically appeared on my guitar..
I have no idea where it originally came from.

I left it on there for a while but then I put a home made truss rod cover on it that I cut out of a pickguard to match the pickguard on the Bolt.

And there was the figured walnut and flamed koa I had to match the basses with those tops.

Very cool story. Carvin is a very special company and there must have been a lot of hard work too. The whole team just seems inspired and motivated and I'm sure it's something you'll remember for a life time.

Those bass truss rod covers in the matching tops are so very nice. I wonder if they've ever made matching tuner buttons?

Cheers,

Yeah, stories like that are fond memories of my days at the Big C. I never knew if he really thought I wanted that and was doing me a favor, or if it was just a smart-azz harmless joke. Either way, it's all good.

The figured wood truss rod covers were made by a friend. He gave me the flamed koa one for that bass. He gave a mutual friend the figured walnut for his walnut guitar. That guy didn't like the walnut truss rod cover on his guitar and gave it to me. I offered to pay him for it and he said "You can by me a Dr. Pepper." Can't beat a deal like that.

The white pearloid truss rod cover I made myself. I bought a pickguard just to hack up. Traced a truss rod cover on it and cut it out. Beveled the edges with a file. Up really close it was a little rough, but from more than two and a half feet away it looked like it came that way from the factory.
