To the contrary, John knows my thoughts on this beauty. As an aside, he's commented that his bass is the inverse of mine, in terms of color/build overall.

Thanks Madman! Very kind of you to say that on this board that has SO many amazing builds.

Gumby and I have a mutual admiration society going on here as we both love the other guys bass. (That sounds funny and wrong but oh well :) ) Just one more reason that this is the best forum on the 'net.

I made the inverse comparison after I read his specs in the waiting room. If he had gone for an ebony board it would be complete but that HAN covered birdseye is ridiculous!

Carvin always seems to exceed expectations with their work.
Thanks again guys! (TGIF!!)

John, it might interest you to know I've spec'd out a fretless with that top in an Elite version with a back that matches it, etc....

I'm WAY not ready to pull the trigger, or even sure of which model....but I have done just that...

Oh Man! That sounds amazing!
Flamed Elite front and back, Flamed Fretboard (NIN), Flamed neck...
I love this idea and hope you can make it happen one day.

On another aside, there is currently a walnut one on the 'bay that is even closer to being the inverse of mine than that beauty of yours. If it had the 3 piece body it would be perfect.

Can my ST300 qualify for this thread? It does say "Spalted Flamed Maple" in the color & wood guide.

^^ Oh yeah! You can post pics of that bad boy any time you want!

That Spalt is one of my favorites BECAUSE of how Flamey it is.
The various colors, distribution of Spalt and those Angel's wings make it exceptional.

John

Just for kicks, here's a link to the original NBD thread if you want to see more pics.

Elf, The other guy is Alex. I placed the order with him. Asked if they had time and could fit it in would they take a photo with the guitar. Thought it would make for a cool conversation piece.. Wish I could get better photos my cell phone does not catch all the goodness. The flamed fret board is pretty awesome. Here are some photos from the Carvin facebook page.

I'm a long time tb'r and this is my first post in Carvin's forum. I've always been a big fan of Carvin. I still remember seeing my first Carvin catalog in the 80's. Here's mine; a 2002 LB75P. This baby plays like butter :D

Welcome!

Both TB and the Carvin Forums have their place. The culture on this BBS is very different - and very good. Hang out, you'll like it.

SWEET bass, btw.

Such a great shot of that beauty. I don't think I've ever seen a pic that shows such a wide range of blue shades possible from a single guitar or bass. The lighting and exposure just seem to work together perfectly. Well done. Congrats and welcome as well.

This one is very difficult to photograph for some reason (at least for me and my amateur photo skilz). Most pics make the quilt look like it fades out in spots. It does not. The quilt is different in different areas of the body. Very chaotic, almost random. I know lots of people want a nice, even pattern over the entire top, but I can't tell you what a thrill I get looking at this in person. Wish I could capture it in a pic, but this is about as close as I can get.

Thanks. Yeah, I've thought it looked like lava a time or two myself.
The flash there brings out the character that is difficult to get in a pic, but it's not normally that bright unless it's in extremely bright light. These pics, taken from two slightly different angles, in a fairly bright room but without flash, are probably the most accurate I have of what the color really looks like:
