Not sure if this qualifies...

I didn’t get my name or guitar in the catalog, but I got a little call out.

Back in my college days, I gigged with a Carvin PB500 bass head. Man that thing sounded great! The PB500 had two separate amps in it that you’re supposed to use for bi-amping. Instead, I used one amp for my bass and the other to power my band's monitor speakers. Hey, we were poor! :)

One time before a gig the PB500 wouldn’t produce sound, so I called customer service. I think the guy nearly feel out of his chair when I explained how I was using it. He said it was fine to hook up the monitors. He was really nice, but I’d swear he was holding back laughter. Turns out I’d left the amp in my car too long (on a 100 degree day in Florida). The internal temperature protection had kicked in when I turned it on. Once it cooled down in little in the A/C, it worked perfectly fine.

Imagine my surprise when the very next catalog mentioned me! The 1993 catalog, bottom of page 44, says: “In a pinch, using the ‘amp patch’ jacks, you can even use your Pro Bass amp to power your PA speakers! (Don’t laugh, it happens.) â€

You must have been real amused when you read that copy and realized it was your story!

I'm so glad y'all are stepping up and posting your stories and photos. I love seeing the photos and pictures of the old catalogs. Keep 'em coming!

This is the first Dragonburst CT6M ever made, landing on my doorstep on or around May of 2006. I was told they almost went to press with the words "PORK CHOP" on the truss rod cover. Dragonburst became an official color in 2007, but I am certainly not the first to have that finish nor am I the originator.

I gave it to my youngest son a few years ago. He is now 18 and for all practical purposes the guitar's rightful owner.

Can you imagine if the catalog DID come out with your personalized truss rod cover on it? That's a cool story. :D

Thanks guys!
My UV is also featured in the Carvin Museum site. Obviously this would please me greatly, except that I didn't submit the details. I have no idea who did, and they got most of it wrong. They did, however, use one of my photos!
Is there any way of addressing this?

Yep. On the museum site there's a link to contact the webmaster. 8)

So, are you the original owner? If not, how did it come into your possession?

I did try contacting the Webmaster a couple of years ago, but had no response. In fact I had forgotten about the whole thing until yesterday when I happened upon this place!

I'm not the original owner, it was made for Steve Lynch, I was just lucky enough to get it from him!

Try sending a PM to the user here, "Kevio". He's the webmaster for both this site and the Museum page. He's always super busy, but that's the best way to make sure he sees the info.

Thanks!
