My DC127M in Trans Pearl Blue arrived on Friday 18th. Yes I'm back in again :)

Carvin's Paint departement are sure they did the AAT process, but the top were not porous enough to take the AAT very good.
If I look closely on the back, the body wings seems to have the ATT applied. The body wings may have been more porous.
It absolutely don't show at all on the 1-piece Ash Top.

After discussing with my sales rep, he called in the guitar department manager.

Here's the answer from my sales rep:

The guitar department manager informed me the AAT process is still relatively new to Carvin. The most important thing he told me is that the more porous the wood is, the better AAT process will take hold of it. The wood needs to "soak it up" if you will to look the best.

In the case of the DC127M, the wood wasn't very porous in some areas. He said the department can and will do a better job of making sure they choose the best wood for the AAT application.

We are certainly learning something every day :).
And this, my friends, is an important thing to think about when ordering an AAT treated Ash Top.

Other than that the guitar is an absolutely beautiful, great playing and sounding DC127M.
Some pictures here (new ones soon to follow).

What a drama

PS. I think Appyllon is worthy of starting up a "new" AAT Club, with his beautiful SCB7 to start it all off.

That's going to be so sweet, if that Vanquish prototype was anything to go by.

I may be mistaken but it sounded like Bredo is too nice a guy to whine or complain about what kept his posting his new guitar. Sounds like he had an order um, misunderstanding?

Something about gloss and antique just don't go together imho. I like your green meanie better than the Kiesel though I would call it a draw on the fingerboards of both [are you kidding me amazing on both]. Did the first antique ash, that bass guitar, have gloss? I don't recall? Gloss makes everything look new and well glossy ha. Not antique? Don't get me wrong, your guitar is spectacular for sure, my second favorite of your collection behind the turkey sandwich frickin' other worldy walnut flame goddess.

Can't wait for the DC7X and Bolt your having built next...
[2] DC7X 27", Loomis 26.5", S7G 27.5", Walden CE550, Ibanez 7 nylon string.
My Kiesel wish list - All 7 strings. All 27" scale option.
New symmetrical V7X, X227X, TL7X, C77X Bolt [smooth heel]
Semi-Hollow CT7. Head or Headless [CODA's photoshop]

Bummer, Bredo. That's suckage.

Nothing wring with posting pics of what you DID get, though. I'm sure it's still pretty and some would like to see it. I think it deserves a NGD. :)

EDITED - I'm Back In (see my first post).

This DC127M is in its own right, a good looking guitar (AAT just not very visible). It also has the playability like any great Carvin.

Add in that this is sounding really really great, and nothing like any other guitar I have (first Ash body, first Ash Top, first time a M22T pickup = Snappy snappy snappy).

PS. Pics to follow.

I'm sure it's pretty, but I think that the AAT is such a unique thing, and a part of your master plan, that it's not something easily looked-over like abalone instead of MOP inlays or a backwards 3+3 headstock...I feel like I would reeeeally want that rebuild.

Bummer dude. :(

Yeah, it's a hassle, but Carvin HAS to pay for all the shipping and duties you incurred. It says AAT on the invoice but doesn't have it? They're responsible then.

Thanks for the nice words, all - I really love thus guitar. I'll be ordering a bolt with AAT and clear as soon as I get my DC7X.

Well...you wanted one translucent PEARL, and one translucent. The blue you received was just the translucent.

So...would then, then, make a translucent pearl RED? :)

Yeah for some reason the vintage yellow and saphire blue are my favorites so far I think I like this finish best in a solid color finished all over verses layers
