Great guitars for sure but no way will that guitar sell quickly for $2600 or sell at all at that price.

If that batch sold for $900 apiece, a lot of us really missed the boat. :|

*edited the price typo.

They sold for base price of 1500, probably 150 more for the piezo.
Selling for 2800 is indeed a 1000$ markup roughly.

They sold out the morning they were available for order, so many people did miss the boat! Bit some poachers did not it seems!

I won't hold it against any one if they ended up selling them. Heck, some expensive option 50s end up on the chopping block. That first trans white flamed dc600 ended up on craigslist locally, etc. sometimes you just don't bond...and if you have a limited edition guitar, it makes sense to ask a decent price for if.

Nothing against that for sure!
I actually made money on some sales quite a few times myself.

In this case tough it doesn't sound like not bonding, does it - so soon it sounds more like a dedicated effort for that quick buck.

Not that there's anything wrong with that - especially if it finds a buyer and makes him happy :) !

That said, even ordered today, those options would be available, and would cost less than the asking price, with the possibility to customize a couple of things.

If you look on that page it has "listed 1 day ago by "Will's Gear Depot". So that was an intentional buy/sell make a profit in my book.

Base guitar= 1500$, piezo + 200$. He will never sell it at that price. 2k would be a reasonable point though.
Current gear that matters:
CS6 in Deep Green Quilt
DC700 all walnut, claro top
SCB7 in aquaburst burl.
V3M with 2x12
DC7X in purple Cal-Burst with purple Kiesel fretboard (13 of 50 on GP run)

I kind of find it sad. That run of guitars is just incredible, and very special to any fan of Carvin. Prices aside, I would love to own one and that yellow cali burst does not disappoint, quite the opposite. I can just imagine how many people would have bought in if they had only known about the deal earlier, but to hear it was bought just to flip a few days later is IMO sickening. Maybe it's just me, but I treat guitars like long lasting relationships and not one night stands. I would be extremely happy to have any one of the 50 GPR guitars, I couldn't find even one I didn't love ... so much porn!!!

Cheers,

On the bright side we know the difference and it's value. As far as I'm concerned it's a used guitar now. Same thing as when you drive a car out of the lot at the dealership. It's used and the price just dropped.

For less than 2k you could easily order the same one NEW, plus customize a few options instead of being bound to the fixed run specs, so.....

Yeah, but you won't get the Kiesel-signed/numbered thing. That matters to some folks.

The cost of the guitar with all options would be a lot more than 2k. The treated fretboard alone is 300. Probably run about 2400 all told.
Current gear that matters:

CS6 in Deep Green Quilt

DC700 all walnut, claro top

SCB7 in aquaburst burl.

V3M with 2x12

DC7X in purple Cal-Burst with purple Kiesel fretboard (13 of 50 on GP run)

Just did a quick check in the builder. 1800 before the Cali burst, antique ash treatment, piezo, hipshot bridge, rear natural clear, or fretboard treatment. Would run much higher than 2k, but no real idea how much more, because the other options don't have prices, and a couple are done personally by Jeff.

It's not quite 1800+ in the builder, it's more 1500/1600 depending on frets /fretboard etc, before the options that you mentioned.
And ordering new for ~2k (not even saying 2.6) you would pick which options you like most with your combination instead of the runs specs.

Which definitely shows the amazing value of the run by the way, since ALL the options you listed were then basically free
I would have jumped on it at the time had it been a normal number of strings and scale length
But even with proper scale and strings, I wouldn't at 2.6, especially used.

I was only discussing the options it has, not the options that someone else would choose or not choose on their own build..
Definitely 2400ish, but the 2600 this guy is asking is a pretty big stretch. He'd be lucky to get 2k from it, and that's only based on the limited run appeal.
Most that know about the limited run appeal part know what he paid for it, and understand what a crappy thing he is doing, though. So doubt anyone will buy it at all. Would be a tainted guitar, lol.

Hi all. I was part of the group buy. Here's a little more info...

They were $1500 plus $200 extra for the piezo plus $29 for shipping (in the USA). My total cost was $1729. It was a heck of a deal! :D

When I spec it out in the guitar builder, I come up with $1839. And that does not include the Hipshot Fixed Bridge ($50), Piezo Option ($200), Kiesel fretboard treatment ($300), Hand selected woods by Jeff ($100), Antique Ash treatment ($???), new Kiesel 7 string pickups (I don't know the value since they're not available to the public yet), or signed/numbered edition ($??).

Yes, you can get your own DC7X spec'd out to your standards. Thats the fun of Carvin! But I do believe (IMHO) that these GP7X build are worth somewhere in the mid-$2k range. :-)

By the way, I don't think Will bought it just to flip it. He ran into financial problems and needs the money now. I don't know Will personally, but I truly think he has good intentions. He offered it to the GP group 1st before he put it on Reverb and SSO.

Thanks for the update Ami, I hope Will all the best. I know he must be heart broken about having to offer that guitar up. If I could, I would buy it to help him out but also because I think that guitar is spectacular.

Cheers,
