Still at the same job from page 1, though for the past few months I wasn't sure for how much longer as we'd recently lost our biggest customer. Found out on Friday that not only are we doing fine now with several new accounts, but I finally got my long overdue raise too. MikeBass is once again a happy cog in the machinery of the business
Now if I could just get my hands on some Panda Express . . .
Kiesel basses, lots of pedals, nothing wrong
3 years w/o one this time around. Starting to cheese me now, looking at previous 2 years of status and how much time it took just to put those together in past years. Grrrr.

Dont miss the purple CT6!
(Any photobucket links are probably now broken. Grrrrrr!!!)
Are you...me? Or am I....you? I think it could be....this was like reading a post I wrote about myself.

It would've been three years in December for me

Over the past 10 years in our plant, we've had 2 separate 4-year spans between raises for top-tier employees like myself. Only had to wait 2 years to get the 3rd raise in ten years. Wage stagnation sucks and I've felt like a poster child for a while. Our situation even predated the recession. Bull Hockey I say!
If I didn't have so much time in I'd find something else. 2.5 more years and I can run screaming for the door with pension in hand and yes, I feel VERY fortunate to be able to say that! But I've put in the time and work to hang on to it for over half my life. No way I could tolerate this environment for what they offer new folks now.
OK, rant over. I know others have it a LOT worse than I do so let's hear some more GOOD employment stories!!

Oil got cheap. I quit in North Dakota, came home & broke my neck. Been laid up ever since. We'll see how it turns next year. At least I've got my quiver to play with in the meantime.

I do drafting for a glass/window company. Been with them for 17 years. For the past 3 years I've been working from home full time.
The only negatives about working from home are 1) I'm always at work and 2) my guitars are in my office.
I do science. Biological stuff. I used to do cool science stuff, like field work, tromping around outdoors, and getting dirty. Nowadays, I'm still technically doing science, but actually it's mostly babysitting and fixing other people's problems.
This thread confirms:
- Those with careers not related to music are able to afford guitars
-Not many people get to make a living as performing musicians
-Those that do are never on music forums...and they don't make enough $$ to buy new guitars anyway

Wow...this post was 2 years ago.
For me, not much has changed except that I am a lead in this office. Problem is that the pay hasn't gone up by much (which obviously means that I STILL can't afford a Kiesel) so I'm still looking around. Hopefully the experience pays off!

Sounds like the same boat I'm in. after 2.5 years, I was finally given an entry level management position, with a modest pay bump (less than the guy who left was paid to do a worse job). Been here a year so far, and have reformed the whole thing I have to manage, but it's a thankless job, and I'm right there in that I couldn't go spend for a new Kiesel if I had to, unless I sold off a bunch of other equipment that I've had for years.
So much for "IT" being any sort of a good-paying job. My experience has been far different. Tons of unpaid hours worked, poor benefits, plenty of vacation that I can't use because I'm "too valuable." Yay, America.
