Rites of Thy Degringolade -- The Universe in Three Parts (https://nuclearwarnowproductions.bandca ... hree-parts)

Had no idea these guys reformed. This new demo is less intense than their classics, "Totality" and "An Ode to Sin", but it's got a really dark, churning feel working together with the band's Voivod-like dissonance that makes up for it.

The Miles Davis sextet's live touring capture from 1958, titled '58 Miles.

This is the famous lineup (first sextet) that produced KIND OF BLUE:
*Miles
*Coltrane
*Cannonball
*Bill Evans
*Jimmy Cobb
*Paul Chambers

Wow. What music.

I've been listening to a ton of Red Fang lately. They're coming to my town in a couple weeks and I'm pumped to go.
Also, they make the BEST music videos EVER. If you've seen better ones, you're probably wrong...

Curtis was one of those guys, he was almost like a physician of music, cool and melody. The badassery of Curtis knew no ends. When I think of being a boy in the Seventies, the way the streets of Harlem and the Bronx looked like back then, with the graffiti on the subways, the afros, the courderoy and checkered bell bottoms, vinyl boots, Soul Train, I think of the sound of Mayfield. His perception of funk, it was even more ferocious than James Brown, Sly Stone, Parliament, The Brothers Johnson, etc. This song never gets old for me. I hear it and I think of the way 125th St looked when we would go visit my old German Italian great grandparents who lived at 125th and Lexington avenue until they died in the second half of the 1970's.

I love the simultaneous funk and drama, the sense of pathos and tragedy befalling his people. And I love despite the fact that the film was a blaxploitation drama about making millions selling coke, living the high life and giving The Man the finger, the song is about heroin, the sad life and cheap death of pushing junk on the corner. The reality of life on the street in Harlem at the time.

Man, I would have written something like you posted myself - if I thought the peeps on this board could put up with my 2 cent input, detail and long post/s. Dude you nailed it.

A reviewer of his first solo album (Curtis) said it was the Sargent Pepper of the 1970's. If you catch those sounds and look at the year of release, he formed the template and colors of a whole decade on one record.

Killer sound. Killer.

Thanks GNP. I lovvvve Curtis. That he's not a household name along with so many other legends of the sixties and seventies is just criminal.

So sad what happened to him over in Brooklyn when that stage rigging fell on him. And for him to go as young as he did shortly thereafter was sad.

The candle that burns twice as fast burns twice as fast I guess. Or at least is seems to make some kind of sense of the situation by saying that.
