Carvin British Series speakers...anyone?

Postby Brock » Sat Nov 11, 2017 6:52 am

Not sure if this post belongs here or in Other Gear, but...

Every once in a while I see Carvin British series speakers pop on eBay or Reverb and they peak my interest. Has anyone used them before? Any thoughts?

Getting in the way back machine here but I used play through a Gallien Krueger Micro lead stereo chorus head through a pair of Carvin V212 cabs and I believe they had those speakers in them. I always thought that rig sounded great for what it was. I would be curious to play through it today just to hear and compare it to the gear I have now. Reguardless myself and my other guitarist at the time both dug those cabinets/speakers. I assumed they where Carvins “version” of celestion speakers at the time.

There's two of them on Reverb for what seems to be a good price. Thinking of buying them just out of curiosity. I would guess they were made to sound like maybe greenbacks because the GT12 speaker is described as sounding similar to Vintage 30. I dunno?
