30 Years Ago in Feb 1988 GP-Satriani content

Postby eichaan » Sat Feb 24, 2018 5:46 pm

I just finished a new blog post in my series "30 Years Ago in Guitar Player". It features the first ever Joe Satriani cover story; Also great stuff on bluesmen Charlie Baty, Anson Funderburgh and Ron Thompson and sideman Kevin Dukes.

I had stacks of GFTPM and guitar player from 84 - 90s.
They basically taught me how to play.
I had to get rid of them in 2000 - they were taking up too much valuable real estate.

It's nice to see them again! Thanks for sharing.
Current Carvins:
2010 Bolt (Candy Red Metallic)
2013 Bolt Plus (Koa)
2016 Black n Blue VSEVEN
2017 TT SCB6

Wish List
Some sort of multiscale 6 HSS with RAD ASH
JB Numbers Guitar (July sale has given me the itch!)

I remember that one! In fact it's probably in my garage in the big boxes full of 'em. Those US guitar mags, Guitar World, Guitar Player, GFTPM aand the others were a real treasure trove, and pretty hard to find in my neck of the woods. It's fairly safe to say that most of what I learned came from countless hours poring over them.
God, it was so damned exciting every time I managed to score a new one!
Kids today - they just wouldn't understand....

I wonder if a buddy of mine had that 1. Was that the 1 with The Crush of Love disk inside? That was my    intro to Satch!!
