LB76 ordered!

Postby islandbass » Fri Feb 03, 2017 5:09 pm

Alright, finally pulled the trigger! I kept it quite simple, going with the new light blue color (matches my eyes and engagement ring) and an unlined fretless board. Now for the long wait! Thanks to everyone for fielding my questions as I tried to narrow down a very difficult (but fun!) decision.

Oh yeeah. The LB body is my all-time favorite and my very first Carvin was an LB76.

:hijack:
Come to think of it, that first bass arrived 12 years ago today

Thread un-hijacked . . .
Good call on going with unlined. It's a whole new challenge that you've already got tons of muscle memory to help with. I'll always consider myself a fretted player but man, that fretless bug bites hard.
Looking forward to seeing this one!
Kiesel basses, lots of pedals, nothing wrong

and flats!

Sadly my 04 LB did not allow top-load. Does the current bridge allow top-load? Always a consideration with flats. Just wondering.

I look forward to seeing it too, in ten weeks. This is going to be tough! I guess in the meantime I could practice. :P But seriously though, I do have full plans to write original music for it, and if I can ever get a recording I'd love to post it.

About the bridge, I believe it can be top loaded.

Good luck! Can't wait to see how it looks. For me, I'm really partial to the Translucent Pearl Blue color.
Guitars: Bolt in Electric Blue, Cobalt 750T
Basses: B4A in classic sunburst , B5 in sunsetburst, XB75 in TPB, PB4 in Blue Burst, LB70F in Pearl blue

I hear ya. It was SO hard making a color decision (literally spent over a year changing my mind because there are so many that I find look great.) But I finally decided on the light blue because that's a color I've wanted on a bass for a long time, and it seemed like a sign that just as I came into the funds to order, they offered the color. It's also just a very "me" color as it's one I've chosen in other areas often, and it's a perfect match for my eye color.

Hang in there! The last couple of weeks can seem to drag on. Try to occupy yourself with one of your current basses to pass the time, and your new beauty will be arriving before you know it. I'm looking forward to seeing pics of your LB76 when it arrives

We're gonna be light blue bass brothers!

Waiting for this second order is much harder than the first was, 2.5 years ago!

Wicked. Five weeks down now!

I currently have the flatwounds ordered with it, but unless I'm really digging them I'll probably change the strings soon. Can anyone recommend a set that has usable C string? I've tried GHS and Elixers before and both had pretty dead Cs. It was almost like I was playing unplugged, then when going back to the G it booms again. I've had luck with ONE C before, which was a d'addario tapewound, but overall I'm not too big a fan of tapes. Flats or sometimes rounds are good.
